About this role

Job Description

Are you interested in building innovative technology that shapes the financial markets? Do you like working at the speed of a startup, but want to solve some of the world’s most complex problems? Do you want to work with, and learn from, hands-on leaders in technology and finance?

At BlackRock, we are looking for Engineers who like to innovate and solve complex problems. We recognize that strength comes from diversity, and will embrace your unique skills, curiosity, drive, and passion while giving you the opportunity to grow technically and as an individual.

With over USD $8 trillion of assets, we have an exceptional responsibility: our technology empowers millions of investors to save for retirement, pay for college, buy a home, and improve their financial wellbeing.

Being a developer at BlackRock means you get the best of both worlds: working for one of the most advanced financial companies and being part of an engineering team responsible for next generation technology and solutions.

You are:

  • Curious and eager to learn new things, with a healthy disrespect for the status quo

  • Excited to learn about new technologies and strive to reach new levels of efficiencies in the platform we provide.

  • Passionate about technology, with personal ownership for the work you do

  • Data-focused, with an eye for the details that matter to solve the problem

  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to key architectural decisions, setting a high standard for code quality and engineering practices.

We are:

  • Passionate about building quality software and scaling technology to meet the needs of tomorrow

  • Building solutions for BlackRock and over 100 organizations who use our technology

  • Developing high quality software in Java, Python and Golang using technologies like Cassandra, Solr, Redis, Kafka, K8s, and many others

  • Committed to open source and contributing back to the community

  • Writing testable software every day, with a focus on incremental innovation

You have:

  • Minimum of 7+ years software engineering work experience on large scale software development and deployment

  • BS/MS in Computer Science from an accredited university

  • Strong programming skills for UI development (HTML, CSS, Javascript/Typescript, frameworks, unit testing tools)

  • Programming skills in Java, Python and Golang, or a willingness to learn them

  • Experience in Linux shell

  • Demonstrated deep understanding and practical experience with a diverse range of authentication and authorization mechanisms, including but not limited to: OAuth 2.0/OpenID Connect, Basic Authentication, Certificate-Based Authentication, Mutual TLS (mTLS), and Transport Layer Security (TLS/SSL).

  • Experience with API frameworks, google AIPs and protobuff

  • Experience with gRPC, including defining service contracts using Protocol Buffers and implementing gRPC clients and servers.

  • Hands-on experience in configuring, managing, and integrating with enterprise-grade Identity Providers such as Keycloak, Okta, or Azure AD.

  • Familiarity with SAML, JWT, and PKI infrastructure.

For New York, NY Only the salary range for this position is USD$162,000.00 - USD$215,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including healthcare, leave benefits, and retirement benefits.
