About this role

This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on BlackRock’s investment operating system, Aladdin, a platform used by thousands of investment professionals worldwide. As part of the Aladdin Engineering organization, you will play a critical role in defining and driving the quality engineering and automation strategy for complex, distributed systems operating on a global scale.

You will work closely with engineering, product, and business partners, acting as a Quality Engineering automation, ensuring quality is embedded throughout the software development lifecycle.

About you

Quality Ownership & Strategy

  • Act as a Quality Engineering Subject Matter Expert, owning quality attestations and signoff for production releases.

  • Define and evolve test automation and quality engineering strategy aligned with product architecture and business goals.

  • Champion best practices in quality, testability, and automation across engineering teams.

Test Design & Automation

  • Design, develop, and maintainscalable, reliable automated test frameworks and suites (UI, API, data, and nonfunctional).

  • Craft comprehensive test scenarios based on functional and nonfunctional requirements, including performance, resilience, and data validation.

  • Drive a strong shift left testing mindset through early test design, automation, and collaboration.

Delivery & Agile Execution

  • Lead functional, nonfunctional, and regression testing activities across projects and releases.

  • Work within an Agile delivery model, actively participating in sprint planning, execution, reviews, and retrospectives using Azure DevOps.

  • Track and communicate testing progress, quality metrics, risks, and delivery impacts to stakeholders.

Production Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Analyze production incidents and defects to identify root causes and actionable improvements for QA and Engineering teams.

  • Partner with development teams to improve test coverage, reduce defect leakage, and increase production stability.

  • Continuously improve QA processes, tooling, and reporting.

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Collaborate closely with developers, product owners, and platform teams across regions.

  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical leadership to QA engineers within the team.

  • Influence quality outcomes through strong communication, data driven insights, and hands-on engagement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field, or equivalent degree or experience in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • 8–10 years of experience in Quality Engineering / Test Automation roles, preferably within financial services or complex enterprise systems.

Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience in senior QA, automation, ideally within financial services, asset management, or similar regulated environments.

  • Solid understanding of investment management systems, risk, regulatory, or data intensive platforms (preferred).

  • Handson coding experience in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Java, C#, Python, TypeScript/JavaScript), with the ability to design and maintain production grade test automation code.

  • Deep knowledge of test automation frameworks, tools, and design patterns.

  • Strong experience with API testing, data validation, and distributed systems.

  • Good foundation in RDBMS, SQL, and application/infrastructure concepts.

  • Experience with performance testing tools and methodologies (e.g., JMeter or similar).

  • Proven ability to define and lead QA initiatives that drive measurable quality improvements.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence Cross functional teams.

  • Self-driven, proactive, and comfortable operating in a fastpacked, evolving environment.

  • Experience working in Agile / DevOps environments.

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tooling (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Maven, SonarQube).

  • Experience with BDD / Cucumber.

  • Exposure to AI assisted development or testing tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT), assisted development or testing tools.

  • Experience with tools such as Postman, SoapUI, or similar API testing platforms.

Our hybrid work model
