Global Product Solutions (“GPS”) was formed in 2024 with the mission of bringing more opportunity within reach. GPS partners across the firm to lead iShares and drive the business priorities of all our investment businesses. Within GPS, BlackRock’s Japan iShares business helps wealth managers, asset managers and institutional clients in the region build better portfolios, delivering BlackRock’s full suite of active & index ETF solutions.
The iShares Team within BlackRock’s Global Product Solutions (GPS) business is responsible for driving ETF adoption, product innovation, and commercialization of the Japan iShares range as well as our global UCITS and 40 Act iShares products. The team is centrally involved in the firm’s thought leadership agenda, product development, and commercialization strategy for iShares Japan business. As part of BlackRock’s Global Product Solutions, critical to the success of the team is the maintenance of strong relationships Portfolio Management teams, as well as the Institutional and Wealth Client Business teams who are responsible for managing and developing BlackRock’s client relationships.
Role Aim/Purpose:
Professionals within the APAC GPS ETF Product Team work to deliver, manage and promote our global iShares investment vehicles to our clients. The ETF Product role consists of driving product development and range management activities in areas such as product innovation, product strategy, platform enhancements & client servicing (e.g. website, factsheets, automation of client reporting). The position is based in Tokyo.
The GPS ETF Product professional is a subject matter expert and will work closely with Global ETF stakeholders and internal partner groups such as Legal & Compliance, Tech & Operations, Global Public Policy Group, Marketing, Global Product Group, Corporate Strategy, and Portfolio Manager Groups to help drive ETF innovation and business growth in Japan. The role will support our ETF sales efforts by helping clients navigate the iShares range to provide them with product analysis and ETF education.
This role provides an opportunity to be a key player in a strategic and dynamic environment with exposure to a wide variety of new product ideas and business processes, leveraging on BlackRock’s local and global resources.
Key Responsibilities:
Delivering Japan listed ETFs to market and driving range management activities across the ETF product set available for local distribution.
Managing internal and external business partner relationships to deliver product strategy aligned to regional and global priorities
Gathering market intelligence and analyse competitors’ offerings to help assess gaps in iShares line up and distribution strategy
Supporting sales force with product expertise to drive ETF usage and to ensure optimal product selection by our clients
Ensuring BlackRock’s ETF offerings meet the highest standards of quality
Implementing global best practices and driving modernization of the ETF ecosystem to support future growth of ETFs in Japan
Overseeing enhancements to ETF management operations and the order taking platform
Producing and maintaining marketing materials including the management of product pages on iShares.com
Skills, Experience & Knowledge Required:
5 years + of relevant experience working in professional or financial services. Background in structuring / product development.
Knowledge of Japanese ETFs as well as related products (public mutual funds, private funds) from a structure and regulatory perspective. Knowledge or experience in Global ETFs a plus.
Organized and detail-oriented, with strong emphasis on time management, ability to multi-task in a high-pressure environment with tight deadlines.
Strong stakeholder management; excellent communication & influencing skills
Ability to frame and communicate complex issues simply and concisely with various levels of management.
Ability to work independently and deliver on objectives with limited oversight
Experience working in a role that requires establishment of strong working relationships across different time zones and cultures.
Native Japanese level and business level English (Reading, Writing and Speaking)
