Blackstone’s Payroll Team is seeking a candidate whose responsibilities will include balancing and controlling earnings and deduction totals, reconciling general ledger entries, validating pay registers and other reports, determining, and correcting out-of-balance conditions, reviewing tax reports, and researching and preparing special reports for our partner departments. Additional responsibilities include checking and auditing timekeeping and maintaining time and attendance records.
Candidates should have 4+ years of payroll experience. Candidates are expected to exhibit strong technical and analytical skills as well as exceptional communication skills. Candidates should be self-motivated and team-oriented individuals with innovative ideas and solutions who will thrive in a dynamic environment.
Qualifications
4+ years of U.S. Payroll experience; additional Canada experience preferred
Experience with Ceridian and Workday and other SaaS based payroll systems, in both a self-administered and managed service environment
Experience in the financial services industry is preferred
Familiarity with equity-based compensation is a plus
Strong understanding of bank and balance sheet account reconciliations
Strong technical skills
Excellent analytical and communication skills
Able to multi-task and effectively manage their own time
A collaborative team player that is always willing to partner with colleagues and inter-departmental team members
Strong Excel skills required
Responsibilities
Prepare and process payrolls in an accurate, compliant, and timely manner
Act as a subject matter expert and/or resource to others
Understand and perform all phases of the payroll process for US and Canadian payrolls
Process special transactions (e.g., retroactive pay, mid-period increases, and garnishments)
Develop best practices to minimize risk pertaining to payroll tax compliance
Understand and keep abreast of the current tax requirements, including state and federal tax withholdings
Preparation reports requested by Finance, HR, Tax and other departments to use for analytics (includes payroll reports of earnings, deductions, taxes, insurance, leave, 401k, etc.)
Assist with ongoing set up, testing and maintenance of the payroll and timekeeping systems
Research and interpret a variety of complex information in response to inquiries
Recommend or participate in the development of new procedures and policies related to payroll operations; update policy/procedure manuals
Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures/Checklists and ensure that policies and procedures are being adhered to

Expected annual base salary range:
$85,000 - $130,000Actual base salary within that range will be determined by several components including but not limited to the individual's experience, skills, qualifications and job location. For roles located outside of the US, please disregard the posted salary bands as these roles will follow a separate compensation process based on local market comparables.
Additional compensation: Base salary does not include other forms of compensation or benefits offered in connection with the advertised role.
