Business Description:

Blackstone Alternative Asset Management (BAAM®) manages approximately $80 billion across a diversified set of businesses, including a customized portfolio solutions business, a special situations platform, a business that purchases GP stakes in alternative asset managers, an open-ended mutual fund platform, and an emerging manager seeding business. BAAM invests across a variety of asset classes and strategies to create solutions for its investors. Through its sharp focus on clients’ goals, a rigorous due-diligence process and access to Blackstone’s global insights, BAAM strives to generate attractive risk-adjusted returns across market cycles while mitigating downside risk during stressed market environments.

Job Description:

The Vice President will be involved in all aspects of investment guideline monitoring and reporting across all BAAM businesses. The Vice President will also be responsible for training and overseeing the responsibilities of other team members. The Investment Guideline Management team is an integral part of BAAM’s investment process which works closely with BAAM’s Portfolio Management, Investment Operations, Institutional Client Service, Legal and Compliance teams. The Vice President will have significant exposure to all types of hedge fund investment strategies and direct investments.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Working closely with investment professionals to ensure investment allocations align with portfolio objectives and adhere to strategy, diversification, liquidity, and other restrictions

  • Testing and monitoring investment guideline and reporting guideline results

  • Coordinating investor outreach with the Institutional Client Service team to communicate guideline-related information and address portfolio inquiries

  • Advising the Portfolio Management team on the compliance of proposed investments

  • Presenting to members of senior management monthly

  • Preparing guideline related content for prospective and existing client presentations

  • Partnering with Legal and the Portfolio Management teams to propose solutions and draft guidelines which align with portfolios’ investment objectives

  • Creating and amending guideline tests in BAAM’s proprietary systems

  • Partnering with the Blackstone Technology and Innovations team to enhance BAAM’s guideline monitoring capabilities

  • Overseeing responsibilities of other team members

Qualifications:

Blackstone seeks to hire individuals who work well in a team-driven working group, are highly motivated, intelligent, have sound judgment and have demonstrated excellence in prior endeavors. The successful candidate must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 5+ years of industry experience

  • Self-starter, highly organized, and detail oriented

  • A desire to work in a fast-paced team environment

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Bloomberg

The following qualifications are not required, but are a plus:

  • Juris Doctorate degree

  • Understanding of hedge funds structures, liquidity terms, and business terms

  • Prior experience with Compliance, Audit, or Hedge Fund Operations

  • Proficient in Python and Tableau

Expected annual base salary range:

$165,000 - $225,000

Actual base salary within that range will be determined by several components including but not limited to the individual's experience, skills, qualifications and job location. For roles located outside of the US, please disregard the posted salary bands as these roles will follow a separate compensation process based on local market comparables.

Additional compensation: Base salary does not include other forms of compensation or benefits offered in connection with the advertised role.
