Job Title: Finance Attorney, Senior Associate

Job Description:

Blackstone Credit & Insurance is seeking an experienced finance attorney to join a team of lawyers within the Chief Investment Office responsible for handling credit documentation and negotiation across the credit platform. The attorney will work alongside portfolio managers and deal team members to structure, analyze and negotiate a broad range of credit documents, including term sheets, commitment letters, credit agreements, preferred stock instruments and other bespoke transaction documents. The attorney will handle credit documentation for new loan originations and will liaise with internal and external counsel, as well as internal middle office and operations teams, as needed, to shepherd the deal from the term sheet stage to closing. The attorney will also evaluate legal risks associated with existing investments and workout transactions, including potential liability management exercises, and present their analyses to investment committees. Although the attorney will focus on direct lending transactions, the attorney will also coordinate with other deal teams across the Blackstone Credit & Insurance platform with respect to energy, distressed and liquid credit investment opportunities.

Qualifications:

Blackstone seeks to hire individuals who are highly motivated, intelligent and have demonstrated excellence in prior endeavors.

The successful candidate should have:

  • 6+ years of law firm experience in a finance-related practice (focus on lender-side direct lending transactions is a plus)

  • Ability to be proactive in new situations, and to manage projects and third parties, including outside counsel

  • Strong academic credentials; JD is required

  • Critical attention to detail and analytical skills

  • Strong drafting and organizational skills

  • Ability to communicate confidently and effectively

  • Ability to work independently while remaining a strong team player

  • Sharp intellect and ability to understand difficult, complex compliance and business issues

  • High initiative, creativity and drive

Expected annual base salary range:

$175,000 - $225,000

Actual base salary within that range will be determined by several components including but not limited to the individual's experience, skills, qualifications and job location. For roles located outside of the US, please disregard the posted salary bands as these roles will follow a separate compensation process based on local market comparables.

Additional compensation: Base salary does not include other forms of compensation or benefits offered in connection with the advertised role.
