Job Description:
The Legal & Compliance department seeks an attorney to support the Blackstone Credit & Insurance (BXCI) business, with a focus on investment management services provided to insurance companies.
The attorney will work on a variety of legal-related matters involving the BXCI business, while also working in coordination with other Blackstone business unit legal teams. Primary areas of responsibility would include:
Transactional legal matters related to Blackstone’s world class insurance asset management platform, including investment management agreement negotiation, investment origination and structuring support, insurance-related M&A and reinsurance, and coordination with underlying Blackstone business units that sub-manage insurance client accounts with respect to certain asset classes
Asset management legal support, including with respect to Advisers Act and insurance regulatory matters, to BXCI’s investment teams on a broad range of investments
Liaising with outside counsel, operations, finance, tax, government relations/public affairs, fund formation and compliance teams on a variety of matters, including client disclosures, transaction negotiations, regulatory matters and LP and co-investor matters
Qualifications:
Blackstone seeks to hire individuals who are highly motivated, intelligent, and have demonstrated excellence in prior endeavors. In addition, the successful candidate should meet the following qualifications:
At least 3 years of directly related experience as an attorney in a leading law firm’s credit, asset based finance, reinsurance or fund formation group or with a credit-focused asset manager or leading life insurance company
An understanding of credit instruments and assets (e.g., private and public debt securities, asset-based finance, infrastructure debt, real estate debt, direct lending) is a strong plus
Knowledge of insurance regulatory issues is not required, but a strong plus
An undergraduate degree and a law degree are required
Strong academic record and/or record of professional accomplishment
Intelligent, understands difficult, complex compliance and business problems
Works well with colleagues to devise pragmatic and creative solutions
Prioritization and focus on critical tasks that add value
Excellent organizational skills and follow-through
Highly effective oral and written communication skills
Strong judgment engenders trust in others
Sense of urgency, diligent and conscientious work ethic
Implements a measured approach under competing demands and with confidence

Expected annual base salary range:
$135,000 - $200,000Actual base salary within that range will be determined by several components including but not limited to the individual's experience, skills, qualifications and job location. For roles located outside of the US, please disregard the posted salary bands as these roles will follow a separate compensation process based on local market comparables.
Additional compensation: Base salary does not include other forms of compensation or benefits offered in connection with the advertised role.
