Blackstone Credit & Insurance (“BXCI”) is one of the world’s leading credit investors. Responsibilities:

Blackstone Credit & Insurance’s Asset Management group mobilizes resources to preserve investor capital and enhance investment returns in challenging situations. Once assets that are or could be challenged are identified, BXCI’s Asset Management team has dual responsibilities:

  • The team focuses on the restructuring and re-underwriting of troubled or underperforming BXCI Private Credit Strategies investments; working closely with equity owners including sponsors, management, creditors, and other stakeholders to preserve and enhance value through balance sheet restructurings, liquidity solutions, and interim credit relief amendments; and

  • Where these processes result in BXCI assuming equity ownership, the role extends into the active ownership and management of a portfolio company, employing a private equity mindset. This includes developing and executing a value creation plan, and partnering with management teams and boards to drive strategic, operational, and financial initiatives, with the objective of maximizing exit outcomes and recoveries.

The position offers significant exposure to complex restructurings, control investing, and active ownership situations, providing a differentiated skill set at the intersection of credit, private equity, and operations.

The main areas of responsibility will include assisting senior-level team members with:

  • Maintaining significant ownership over assigned situations, including serving as a day-to-day point of contact for portfolio company management, advisors, sponsors, peer lenders, and internal origination teams, and exercising sound judgment in fast-moving, high-stakes environment

  • Preparing investment memoranda, analyses (with significant emphasis on identifying root causes of underperformance), financial forecasts, and other ad-hoc requests to support real-time decision making related to existing investments

  • Restructuring of capital structures by developing financial models, identifying optimal financing solutions, and supporting negotiations to enhance liquidity, reduce debt burdens, and secure long-term financial stability for an organization

  • Providing comprehensive support to management and the board of directors by preparing detailed analyses, strategic recommendations, and facilitating effective decision-making to drive business performance and achieve corporate objectives. This may include participating in due diligence processes for potential add-on acquisitions & divestiture as part of broader restructuring efforts

  • If required, coordinating the selection and engagement of third-party consultants and service providers for value creation initiatives

  • Maintaining and enhancing a comprehensive understanding of industry trends, competitive landscapes, and regulatory environments to inform strategic decision-making for control / significant minority equity positions

  • Driving and reporting on the progress of turnaround initiatives, providing regular updates to BXCI senior-level management on key financial metrics, operational milestones, and risk factors

Qualifications:

Blackstone seeks to hire individuals who are highly motivated, have sound judgement and have demonstrated excellence in prior endeavors. In addition to strong analytical skills, the successful candidate should meet the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration, economics, or a related field; advanced degrees (e.g., MBA) or professional certifications (e.g., CFA, CPA) are a plus, but not required

  • 3+ years of experience in investment banking, restructuring advisory, private equity/private credit, management consulting, or a related field, with a focus on distressed assets or turnaround situations

  • Demonstrated proficiency in financial modeling, valuation techniques, and scenario analysis; effectively assesses complex financial structures and understands the implications of various restructuring alternatives

  • Exceptional analytical and quantitative skills; effectively synthesizes large amounts of data into actionable insights and coherent strategies

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, effectively presents analysis and makes recommendations to management teams, boards of directors, and external stakeholders

  • Proven track record of working collaboratively in a team environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously, and meeting tight deadlines under pressure

  • Strong EQ; effectively navigates between internal demands and building strong working relationships with management teams

  • High level of initiative and motivation, with a keen interest in the dynamics of companies and a passion for developing creative solutions to complex problems

  • Familiarity with industry-specific challenges and opportunities; quickly learns and adapts to new sectors

  • Experience working on a small team with significant responsibility / independently

Expected annual base salary range:

$160,000 - $215,000

Actual base salary within that range will be determined by several components including but not limited to the individual's experience, skills, qualifications and job location. For roles located outside of the US, please disregard the posted salary bands as these roles will follow a separate compensation process based on local market comparables.

Additional compensation and benefits offered in connection with the role consist of comprehensive health benefits, including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, and FSA benefits; paid time off; life insurance; 401(k) plan; and discretionary bonuses. Certain employees may also be eligible for equity and other incentive compensation at Blackstone’s sole discretion.
