Business Unit: Blackstone Legal & Compliance (Infrastructure)
Blackstone seeks an Assistant Vice President to join its Legal & Compliance team to provide support for the firm’s Infrastructure business. The Assistant Vice President will be integrated rapidly into the team to ensure the compliance function continues to deliver excellent service and support for investment, client service, finance, and portfolio operations teams. The Assistant Vice President will work closely with a Senior Vice President and the Chief Compliance Officer.
Blackstone Infrastructure invests across energy, transportation, digital infrastructure and water and waste infrastructure sectors. The Infrastructure group seeks to apply a long-term buy-and-hold strategy to large-scale infrastructure assets with a focus on delivering stable, long-term capital appreciation together with a predictable annual cash flow yield. Job Title: Attorney (Compliance), Assistant Vice President
Job Description:
The Compliance Assistant Vice President will work on a variety of legal and compliance matters involving the investment business described above. Primary job responsibilities include:
Provide broad support for the Compliance Program for Blackstone’s ~$70 billion Infrastructure business, team members, and investment portfolio consistent with applicable law and regulation (with particular focus on the U.S., U.K. and European Union)
Coordinate across business unit and corporate teams to prepare regulatory reports and filings (e.g., Forms ADV, Form PF, Reg D, AIFMD and Annex IV, 13H, 13F) and to perform annual 206(4)-7 compliance review
Work with legal and compliance colleagues to (i) respond to requests from regulators, (ii) develop proactive responses to regulatory developments that impact the business (including ESG-related matters), and (iii) prepare for regulatory examinations, including conducting mock examinations, each in conjunction with external consultants and counsel
Help develop, revise, and maintain compliance and regulatory policies, procedures and controls taking into account the specific needs of the Infrastructure business, firm-wide policies and practices, and evolving legal and regulatory requirements
Communicate risks, best practices and legal and regulatory requirements (U.S. and international) with multiple stakeholders across different functional areas and seniority levels
Assist with the development, maintenance and delivery of compliance training to investment and support teams on key regulatory topics for new and existing employees; maintain training records; and ensure consistency with other Blackstone businesses
Provide second-tier support for review of fundraising materials (e.g., fund pitchbooks, co-investment decks, business unit overviews), limited partner communications, investment summaries, and investor conference materials to ensure compliance with applicable distribution and marketing rules
Provide support for review, preparation and adherence to third-party advisor / consultant agreements and engagement letters (including for Blackstone Senior Advisors and Operating Advisors)
Help ensure compliance with investor side letter obligations
Provide business unit oversight and administration of the expert network program
Assist with, and provide oversight for, the wall-cross request process for the business unit
Help manage network and application access approvals
Assist with new product development in U.S. and non-U.S. jurisdictions
Qualifications:
An attorney with 3+ years of experience at a law firm and/or as a compliance professional (preferably at an asset manager or at a regulatory consulting firm)
Familiarity with SEC and CFTC registration process, and federal, state and international securities laws (including the Investment Advisers Act of 1940, the Investment Company Act of 1940, the Securities Act of 1933, the Exchange Act of 1934, ERISA, and the EU Market Abuse Regulation (and similar anti-insider trading regimes)
Strong preference for experience as a funds or regulatory attorney working with (a) private fund operating documents including (LPAs, PPMs, and subscription agreements); (b) key service providers to private funds; and (c) investor eligibility requirements; experience with both private equity and hedge fund structure is a plus
Desire to work as part of a highly collaborative legal and compliance team
Function as liaison between Infrastructure-dedicated business team members (investment, asset management) and firm-wide corporate groups (legal (transactional), marketing, accounting, finance, operations, tax)
Superb organizational skills; demonstrated strong writing ability; and strong interpersonal communications skills
Be proactive in new situations and to manage projects independently to conclusion
Expectation of working in an extremely fast-paced, demanding environment
Sharp intellect, understanding difficult and complex compliance, legal and business problems into commercially actionable work plans
Compliance experience with registered funds, board roles, and service providers is a plus
An understanding of derivatives transactions (including currency hedging and interest rate swaps) is a plus

Expected annual base salary range:
$135,000 - $200,000Actual base salary within that range will be determined by several components including but not limited to the individual's experience, skills, qualifications and job location. For roles located outside of the US, please disregard the posted salary bands as these roles will follow a separate compensation process based on local market comparables.
Additional compensation and benefits offered in connection with the role consist of comprehensive health benefits, including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, and FSA benefits; paid time off; life insurance; 401(k) plan; and discretionary bonuses. Certain employees may also be eligible for equity and other incentive compensation at Blackstone’s sole discretion.
