About the Role
We are seeking a visionary and highly accomplished leader to serve as Senior Advisor, EU Strategy & Engagement — a pivotal role responsible for defining, leading, and executing Bloomberg’s strategic engagement across the European Union. Based in Brussels, this individual will be Bloomberg’s principal strategist on EU affairs — aligning our institutional engagement, public affairs efforts, and regulatory positioning with the evolving European agenda. You will serve as a key counselor to Bloomberg’s senior leadership, guiding how the company navigates Europe’s regulatory, political, and economic landscape with foresight, influence, and impact. You will be supported by, and work in close partnership with, Bloomberg’s External Relations team, ensuring the role combines high-level vision with strong on-the-ground execution.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Advisory
- Serve as Bloomberg’s chief advisor on EU political, regulatory, and economic affairs, offering strategic counsel to senior global leadership.
- Lead the development and execution of Bloomberg’s EU engagement strategy.
- Anticipate political, regulatory, and market shifts to ensure Bloomberg is positioned at the forefront of European and global debates.
High-Level Representation & Policy Advocacy
- Represent Bloomberg with credibility and authority before the European Commission, Parliament, Council, and Member State governments.
- Serve as a senior interlocutor for Bloomberg at major policy summits, strategic forums, and multilateral engagements.
- Build and sustain trusted relationships with top-tier policymakers, regulators, and diplomatic leaders across the EU.
Internal Collaboration
- Work closely with Bloomberg's EU External Relations team and all local colleagues to align strategy and execution.
- Partner with all teams across External Relations, Government Affairs, Communications, and Corporate Philanthropy to ensure a cohesive, high-impact approach.
Ecosystem Engagement & Thought Leadership
- Deepen Bloomberg’s visibility within the European policy ecosystem through collaboration with think tanks, NGOs, academic institutions, and business associations.
- Deliver thought leadership through briefings, strategy memos, high-level speeches, and publications, positioning Bloomberg as a trusted voice in Europe’s economic future.
Who You Are
A Distinguished EU Affairs Leader
- 20+ years of senior experience in EU institutions, national governments, multilateral organizations, or demonstrated experience in senior advisory roles.
- Experience serving in or advising senior political or regulatory offices is highly valued.
A Strategic Visionary
- A proven ability to define long-term strategy, anticipate shifts, and position an organization for global influence.
An Influential Communicator
- Trusted presence at the highest levels of business and government, with diplomatic finesse and executive-level messaging skills.
Skilled in Political and Regulatory Navigation
- Demonstrated success engaging with the EU policy process and regulatory environment at both the institutional and Member State levels.
- Capable of translating complex policy dynamics into actionable insights for organizational leadership.
A Connector and Integrator
- Adept at connecting business, policy, philanthropy, and civic stakeholders to deliver systemic change.
Mission-Driven and Market Fluent
- Deep interest in or experience with sustainability, capital markets, digital policy.
Multilingual and Mobile
- Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in French, German, or other EU languages is a strong asset.
- EU citizenship is required, given the travel and strategic access demands of this role.
- Willing and able to travel extensively across Europe to support Bloomberg’s national and regional engagement.
