Bloomberg

são paulo, state of são paulo, brazil
Posted on Nov 19, 2025
We are seeking an experienced reporter to drive our agriculture coverage in Brazil — one of the world’s most dynamic and influential economies for commodities. You’ll take on a crucial beat focused on soft commodities such as coffee, cocoa, and sugar, with a strong emphasis on ethanol. Your reporting will span market movements, global trading trends, government policy, corporate strategy, farmer sentiment, and consumer and environmental issues. The ideal candidate will have a deep curiosity about how Brazil’s agricultural sector operates — from farms to boardrooms — and a keen sense of how developments there ripple across global markets and economies.
Brazil has rapidly become an agricultural powerhouse, reshaping global trade and intensifying debates around sustainability. You’ll be responsible for delivering agenda-setting journalism that captures this transformation — from scoops and breaking news to deeply reported enterprise pieces.
Working alongside colleagues in Brazil and across Bloomberg’s global network, you’ll stay on top of news affecting commodities futures, corporate moves and M&A, regulation and policy — and help bring clarity and insight to our global audience. Along with soft commodities, you'll be responsible for pulp and paper. This position can be done from Rio or Sao Paulo. To be considered, please submit your application by Friday, December 5.
We’ll trust you to:
  • Monitor and explain market moves on major commodities, writing with precision and insight for sophisticated readers
  • Be a self-starter, and someone who can thrive in a fast-paced news environment
  • Generate original story and project ideas that vividly illustrate how Brazil’s commodities markets influence traders, farmers, corporations, and consumers.
  • Interpret and analyze the affects of tariffs on markets and trade
  • Break news on issues including policymaking and environmental developments
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues across teams, bureaus and continents to deliver a global perspective to our readers
You’ll need to have:
  • At least 5 years of experience in business or financial journalism
  • Experience in a real-time news environment
  • A proven track record reporting and writing about business in Brazil
  • Demonstrated success in building your own sources to break news
  • An ability to write quickly and clearly under deadline pressure
  • Fluency in English and Portuguese (spoken and written)
  • Demonstrated continuous career growth and initiative within an organization
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
We’d love to see:
  • Familiarity with journalism across platforms, including digital, video, podcasts and data visualization
  • Preferably experience covering agriculture or other commodities
