About the Team
The Storage and Compute Stability team ensure the reliability, performance, and security of Bloomberg’s cloud storage and compute infrastructure. We operate across infrastructure, software, and services, proactively identifying and preventing issues before they impact our users.
As Software Engineers, we operate with a strong Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) focus. We write production-quality code to build tools and automation, and own how our storage and compute platforms run in production.
Our focus is on streamlining processes, driving automation, and acting as a bridge between product teams and stakeholders so that Bloomberg’s engineers can innovate rapidly while maintaining stability at scale. We follow agile practices and thrive on code reviews, design discussions, and collaborative problem solving.

We’re currently looking for a Software Engineering Team Leader (equivalent in level to that of an Engineering Manager) who will play a dual role: guiding the technical direction of the team while also developing and supporting its members. We are looking for an experienced people manager who can help us lay the foundation for storage & compute stability as a newly established team in the Pune office. Our ideal candidate is someone with strong technical skills and a proven track record of successfully leading large projects and mentoring team members, with interest in innovation, automation, and continuous improvement.
We'll trust you to:
- Define and execute the strategic vision for compute and storage reliability, aligning with organizational priorities and long-term growth
- Coach, mentor, and grow team members, fostering both technical and professional development
- Enable collaboration across stakeholders and product owners, ensuring alignment between short-term stability needs and long-term product goals
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation by identifying opportunities to streamline processes, reduce manual effort, and enhance automation
- Turn noise into signal by cutting through distractions, clarifying priorities, and helping the team focus on the work that has the greatest impact
- Balance short-term stability work with long-term strategic initiatives, ensuring the team delivers meaningful impact
- Oversee infrastructure lifecycle management, including capacity forecasting, refresh cycles, and proactive planning
- Lead incident response and postmortem practices, ensuring learnings translate into systemic improvements
- Promote a culture of accountability and documentation, supporting clear communication and knowledge-sharing across teams
- Champion efficiency and resilience through automation, monitoring, and robust system design
You'll need to have:
- 2+ years of experience in people leadership - managing and coaching team members
- 7+ years of experience in software engineering and coding in an object-oriented programming language
- Strong knowledge of monitoring, observability, and incident management
- Familiarity with automation and infrastructure-as-code practices
- Track record of driving cross-team collaboration and stakeholder alignment
We'd love to see:
- Experience developing strategic roadmaps for infrastructure or reliability-focused teams
- Deep technical background in compute and/or storage infrastructure
- Background in cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and large-scale distributed systems
- Previous responsibility for capacity planning, lifecycle management, and infrastructure forecasting
