Intro
The Bloomberg Finance Development team within the Bloomberg Engineering Department, designs, deploys, and enhances custom applications which support Bloomberg’s Finance and Chief Financial Officer community. We create and support standalone, web-based and Microsoft Office Add-In applications, infrastructure automation, and external systems integrations. We also develop services for Python Stella automations and Bloomberg Terminal applications.
The Role
As a Software Engineer in the Systems Engineering Team you will have the opportunity to work in close collaboration with business users to create and enhance custom applications which eliminate inefficiencies or provide brilliant solutions to seemingly intractable problems. The Bloomberg Finance Software Development Team builds and maintains web/desktop applications, Office Add-Ins, and back-end system automation tools that underpin financial processes critical to the successful ongoing operation of the entirety of Bloomberg. Because of the scope of reach of our applications, we interact with numerous existing systems and their supporting teams to utilize Bloomberg infrastructure and tools resulting in bespoke solutions to solve complex business problems.
You will have the opportunity to collaborate with experienced and knowledgeable software engineers as we build solutions which free up the CFO users to maximize their impact on continuing to maintain Bloomberg’s leadership position. At the same time, you will be exposed to a wide array of technologies and systems that you can leverage to increase your contribution to the overall success of Bloomberg.

The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.

You Will Need To Have
- 4+ years experience programming and systems design utilizing object-oriented languages (e.g. C#, JAVA)
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a similar field of study or equivalent work experience
- Experience in all phases of the software development lifecycle
- Experience creating and working with web and Windows services
- Experience with relational databases design (e.g. SQL, PostgreSQL)
- Understanding of fundamental networking concepts (e.g. firewall, proxy traversal)
- Experience in full web-stack development (i.e. JavaScript, CSS, HTML)
- Significant experience with SQL syntax and stored procedure development
- Experience programming in C# or Python
- Experience of working within an IT organization
- Comfortable working closely with users to understand and solve business problems
