We're looking for a curious reporter and strong writer to tackle Canadian real estate, a critical beat for Bloomberg. The ideal candidate will be passionate about the intersection of money, power and economics in Canada’s real estate markets. We’re interested in housing and key parts of the commercial property sector, with a particular emphasis on Toronto, Vancouver and other large cities.
The job requires a high energy level and a nose for scoops and exclusives, plus the ability to see the bigger picture and deliver enterprise to an audience of readers hungry to understand the real estate markets where they live and work.
We'll trust you to:
-- Break news on major developments in Canadian housing and commercial real estate
-- Find fresh angles in housing industry data
-- Cultivate a deep list of sources across commercial real estate owners and developers
-- Work with reporters in finance and investing on the intersection of Bay Street, pension funds and housing
-- Work with reporters in Ottawa and other bureaus to cover real estate policy and politics
You'll need to have:
-- General familiarity with housing data and trends in Canada
-- Good news judgement and writing ability
-- Curiosity about power and politics
