What is the role?
At Bloomberg, we are committed to providing outstanding support to our business partners by delivering insight on business performance, financial oversight, and thought leadership. We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join our broader Core Accounting team.

This role is heavily focused on managing the monthly close process of our organization. In addition, the role also requires analytical review of our key international entities and broad review of key transactions to ascertain proper accounting application.
As a member of this team, you will deliver a unique blend of accounting and operational analysis, and support the team lead with quality analytics and month end close results. A core component of the role will be driving consistency and rigor in reporting across month-end cycles and quarterly international entity review.

We will trust you to:
• Complete the month-end close cycle, including monthly preparation and posting of requisite journal entries in SAP.
• Lead coordination with our finance team to manage monthly results of the P&L, ensuring quality analytics of ongoing variances.
• Own and implement any process improvements that affect the monthly account reconciliations or journal entries.
• Maintain quality quarterly analytics of our international entities to ensure transactions in SAP have requisite business and compliance purpose.
• Coordinate with our international controllers’ team to ensure transactions follow statutory laws and regulations.
• Prepare and maintain monthly reconciliations ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of reconciling items.
• Lead and own review of material contracts and partner closely with affected stakeholders (technical accounting; finance and fixed asset teams) to finalize and operationalize the accounting treatment.
• Work on ad hoc projects that drive standardization and modernization across the accounting department.
• Support internal and external stakeholders with all ensuing requests.

You will bring to the team:
• A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in accounting, with a strong focus on journal entry preparation and financial analysis.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking capabilities along with and data visualization skills.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work across multiple departments and levels.
• Experience working autonomously and making decisions in a timely manner.
• Rigor in applying accounting standards across all material transactions.

We would love to see:
• BA/BS degree or equivalent experience in Accounting; CPA (preferred but not required).
• Proficiency in Excel particularly focused on aggregating and reviewing data in an efficient manner (Pivot tables; formulas to automate processes and standardize data; etc.).
• Familiarity with the SAP general ledger system (preferred but not required).
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
