Bloomberg runs on data. Our products are fueled by powerful information. We combine data and context to paint the whole picture for our clients, around the clock and around the world. Within Data, we are responsible for delivering this data, news, and analytics through innovative technology—quickly and accurately. We apply problem-solving skills to identify workflow efficiencies and implement scalable solutions that enhance our systems, products, and processes.
Our team:
The Rates Data team sits at the core of our Fixed Income Data business, responsible for building and evolving datasets across Sovereigns, Local Governments, Money Markets, and Municipal Fundamentals. These datasets underpin how clients discover, analyze, and act on information across global rates markets.
As we continue to expand our coverage, the team is focused on growing into new and emerging areas, enhancing the depth and quality of our data to meet evolving client needs. We partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Fixed Income subject matter experts across the globe to deliver scalable, high-impact data solutions that help clients navigate increasingly complex global markets with confidence.
What’s the role?
The Rates Data team is looking for a highly experienced Senior Data Management Professional to help scale and modernize the next generation of our data platform. This role requires a strong data engineering foundation combined with deep ownership of data quality, embedding quality directly into pipelines, systems, and architecture. You will design and evolve data systems supporting key Rates datasets driving improvements in reliability, scalability, and workflow modernization through advanced ETL pipelines, automation, and robust monitoring frameworks.
You will play a key role in defining and executing the data quality vision for our datasets, developing fit-for-purpose metrics and aligning data with how clients consume it across Bloomberg products. Working closely with Product, Engineering, and domain experts, you will lead strategic data initiatives, own end-to-end solutions, influence architecture, and help elevate technical standards across the team.
We'll trust you to:
  • Build and maintain highly scalable, resilient, and observable data pipelines supporting critical Rates datasets
  • Lead the modernization of legacy workflows, reducing technical debt and improving maintainability, scalability, and performance
  • Perform deep data analysis, including profiling and root cause analysis, to drive data quality improvements and support data-driven decision making
  • Design and implement automated data quality controls, including anomaly detection and proactive monitoring frameworks
  • Apply AI and machine learning techniques (e.g., NLP, entity extraction, anomaly detection) to enhance data ingestion, normalization, and enrichment across diverse financial datasets
  • Identify opportunities to leverage generative AI and automation to reduce manual workflows and accelerate data onboarding and coverage expansion
  • Develop validation frameworks to ensure data quality, reliability, and appropriate controls across automated and AI-driven processes
  • Own and drive large-scale data migrations and system redesigns to support evolving product and platform needs
  • Establish best practices for data architecture, pipeline design, and workflow orchestration
  • Understand how clients consume Rates data across Bloomberg products and translate those needs into measurable data quality and product enhancements
  • Partner with Engineering to align on platform evolution, scalability, and system design
  • Act as a technical leader and mentor, raising the bar for code quality, design thinking, and execution
  • Apply project management skills to ensure technical initiatives are aligned with requirements and delivered on time
You'll need to have:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Statistics, Quantitative Finance, or a related STEM field (or equivalent experience)
  • 4+ years of experience designing and implementing scalable data solutions and ETL pipelines across diverse data sources
  • Strong hands-on experience with Python and databases (SQL and/or NoSQL) in a production environment
  • Proven track record of owning and delivering complex, high-impact data initiatives end-to-end
  • Experience with distributed data systems, workflow orchestration, and scalable architecture design
  • Solid experience in data quality management, including defining metrics, performing root cause analysis, and driving measurable improvements in data reliability
  • Experience building observable data systems with monitoring, alerting, and data reliability frameworks
  • Ability to analyze, refactor, and modernize legacy systems to improve performance and scalability
  • Familiarity working with structured and unstructured data formats (e.g., JSON, CSV, XML/XBRL, PDFs)
  • Solid understanding of financial data, ideally within fixed income, rates, or macroeconomic datasets
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence technical direction and collaborate across global teams
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
We'd love to see:
  • Experience with Bloomberg products, Terminal, or Data workflows
  • Familiarity with fixed income markets, with broad exposure to global financial markets
  • Experience applying AI or ML techniques within data workflows (e.g., NLP, anomaly detection, LLM-assisted processes)
  • Demonstrated experience driving automation and efficiency gains in data pipelines and workflows
  • Understanding of data governance, lineage, and metadata management at scale
  • Experience working in Agile environments and using tools such as JIRA
