Bloomberg’s Legal and Compliance Department plays a critical role in supporting our businesses and operations around the world. We move quickly and thoughtfully to help address a variety of complex legal issues that come with being the world’s leading financial news and information company. Our team is made up of talented and hardworking professionals who think creatively and work collaboratively in an open environment to deliver results, drive innovation, and solve difficult problems. Diversity and inclusion are essential to our success, and we strive to maintain an environment where our employees are empowered to make an impact. We also recognize the value and importance of giving back to our communities, as evidenced by our award-winning pro bono program.
The Global Compliance team within Bloomberg’s Legal & Compliance Department provides coverage of Bloomberg's regulated entities and products, as well as support for Bloomberg's non-regulated products and services. We work to address regulatory issues, ensure compliance with current/developing rules and regulations, and correspond with regulators. Bloomberg has regulated activities that include regulated trading venues (e.g., U.K. Multilateral Trading Facility, U.S. Swap Execution Facility), a Recognised Market Operator in Singapore, Electronic Trading services, and other regulated offerings globally.
The Role:
Reporting directly to the APAC Head of AML Compliance, this is a great opportunity to contribute to a growing regional Anti-money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) program. As an AML Compliance Officer, you will support the APAC Head of AML Compliance in implementing and enhancing the Company's AML and KYC Programs across the region, including providing AML advisory on customer due diligence, financial crime risks, and escalated compliance matters. The role involves close partnership with the Company’s Global Anti-Money Laundering (AML) team as well as local Compliance teams, focused on Bloomberg Tradebook Singapore Pte Ltd (an RMO licensed entity) among other regional and international (e.g., UK, European) entities. You will support the continued growth of the AML team and function as it expands to meet and support business requirements of the regulated entities within the Bloomberg group.
An ideal candidate would also demonstrate strong knowledge of current Singapore (MAS) and regional AML regulatory requirements, together with relevant financial industry expertise and a solid understanding of AML compliance frameworks and practices.
We'll Trust You To:
- Support the AML and KYC Programs across APAC, including direct coverage and support for our organised market, operated by Tradebook Singapore (Recognised Market Operator regulated by MAS)
- Manage exceptions and escalations (including PEPs, sanctions and adverse news) as part of new client onboarding and periodic review, identifying and assessing key risk factors when considering the ML/TF risk relevant to clients, products or business lines.
- Conduct on-going monitoring of client trade activity, identifying activity that poses a higher risk of money laundering.
- Support the annual completion of enterprise-wide money laundering risk assessments.
- Act as a subject matter expert on AML/KYC matters and provide quality assurance oversight.
- Track and interpret evolving AML laws, regulations, and enforcement trends, integrating insights into policy and program updates.
- Prepare and distribute Management Information reports to the relevant stakeholder group(s), including business partners and appropriate governance forums
- Conduct investigations into unusual / suspicious activity and ensure timely, accurate STR filings in line with applicable laws and regulations.
- Assist and lead in the creation and delivery of AML training to team members and key business areas
- Contribute to the ongoing development and implementation of the Global AML and KYC programs as needed, including customer risk assessments, money laundering risk assessments, Management Information reports, and training initiatives.
- Support the establishment of best practice across the broader Bloomberg Compliance Function
You’ll Need To Have:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in AML advisory or AML compliance within the financial services industry.
- Demonstrated subject matter expertise in Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Know Your Customer (KYC), and Customer Due Diligence (CDD) regulations and frameworks.
- Proven AML/KYC experience across corporate and/or institutional client segments.
- Adaptability with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, and open-plan working environment.
- Demonstrated continuous career growth within an organization.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Bachelor’s degree or degree-equivalent qualifications.
We’d Love to See:
- Knowledge and practical implementation of MAS’ AML/CFT regulations
- Involvement in implementing KYC technology-based solutions
