We are looking for an exceptional editorial leader to step into one of the most pivotal roles in our Asia-Pacific (APAC) newsroom in one of the most dynamic regions in the world. As the Team Leader of the APAC TV Newsdesk, you will champion a high-energy, breaking-news environment and foster a relentless, scoop-driven culture. Ultimately, you will help lead a first-class Newsdesk and news operation that shapes the daily conversation within APAC’s corridors of power. As Bloomberg continues to expand its video and digital presence across the region and the world, you will help drive multimedia innovation, partner closely with regional and global teams to seamlessly adapt TV output for diverse digital platforms and experiment with new storytelling formats to aggressively expand our audience reach. In this high-profile position, you will step up to provide senior management coverage for the Managing Editor of APAC TV during vacation periods.
We’ll trust you to:
- Oversee and elevate the quality, accuracy, and speed of all TV and video output across the Asia-Pacific region
- Partner closely with the Managing Editor to direct real-time news operations. Coordinate fast-breaking news coverage, field shoots, live and pre-taped guest interviews, APAC and global reporter bookings, and high-impact visual production elements for APAC TV shows
- Make sharp, authoritative editorial judgments instantly under the intense pressure of live broadcast and fluid, fast-breaking news environments
- Possess impeccable business and financial market news judgment. Must have prior management experience, or be a stellar senior journalist with a clear track record of leadership
- Serve as a core editorial anchor for APAC, collaborating seamlessly with regional and global partners across all media platforms to coordinate and synchronize coverage
- Experience in coordinating news coverage in the field and associated logistics
- Strategically broaden our regional coverage by identifying the key power players, corporate trends, and macroeconomic shifts that matter most to our subscribers and viewers
- Motivate a high-energy newsdesk to aggressively pursue original, agenda-setting stories and exclusive content with a global impact.
- Coach and mentor newsdesk producers to sharpen their real-time breaking news responses, critical thinking skills, and editorial instincts.
You’ll need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree or degree-equivalent qualifications
- At least 7 years of recent experience in financial journalism
- At least 2 years of management experience in a newsroom or a senior journalist with clear leadership skills
- A proven track record of collaborating across diverse teams and regions
- Excellent news judgement
- Impeccable organizational and planning skills with an ability to manage competing priorities
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities, capable of building strong relationships and influencing outcomes
- The ability to remain composed and effective in high-pressure situations
- Fluency in both spoken and written English
- Demonstrated continuous career growth within an organization
We'd love to see:
- Previous or current experience working in the Asia-Pacific region
- Previous experience working on or managing a TV or Digital/Print Newsdesk
