This position is part of the Space Systems Development (SSD) business unit. SSD develops next-generation concepts and systems to advance our future of living and working in space sustainably.
Blue Origin is seeking a new member for our team to serve as a Payload Systems Integration Engineer reporting to and accountable to the Lead Systems Engineer of the Orbital Reef Program. As part of a small, passionate, and accomplished team of experts, you will be responsible for supporting Orbital Reef laboratory design, analysis, and payload customer processes. You will be responsible for generating requirements and verification documents, performing trade studies, and developing payloads processes from contract to customer return. You will identify innovations and efficiencies required for optimizing the payloads process for future Orbital Reef payloads customers. The position will involve coordination with Orbital Reef Chief Scientist, Vehicle Architecture Leads, Vehicle Systems Engineers, and other representatives and stakeholders.

Responsibilities:
Function as focal point for requirements, design, and development of Orbital Reef laboratory facilities and capabilities that will interface with future customer payloads.
Develop customer payload life-cycle processes, from customer contract through certification and operations to payload return to the customer. This involves activities such as development of documentation for the Orbital Reef laboratory facility, capability, and payload interface requirements (IRD, ICD, etc.), defining payload integration milestones including such as design reviews, operations reviews, flight and ground safety reviews, verification, and certification reviews.
Work with Orbital Reef architecture and subsystem leads to evaluate and propose edits to requirements and analyses that impact Orbital Reef laboratory facilities and interfaces to user payloads.
Perform thorough technical assessments of proposed internal and external payload interface requirements to understand the impacts to the space station and to future customer payloads.
Evaluate and contribute to verification and validation planning for laboratory facility and user payloads.
Perform laboratory facility and capabilities trade studies per vehicle requirements and design reference mission constraints.
Participate in Orbital Reef laboratory topology design and analyses.
Identify innovations and efficiencies in laboratory capabilities and payloads processes.
Establish and maintain overall Payload project schedules, key milestones, and deliverables.
Minimum Qualifications:
B.S. degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, or Physics.
Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, customer relation skills, and presentation skills are required.
Self-directed and capable of balancing several tasks at one time.
Proven ability to work effectively and collaborate in a dynamic, fast paced, team-oriented environment.
Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion.
Support up to 10% domestic travel to engage in milestone reviews, training, supplier/partner/customer/team engagements.
Experience in design, analysis, and/or certification of aerospace systems.

Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications:
A minimum of 5 years of direct/specialized experience in International Space Station (ISS) payloads integration, certification, and/or development.
Experience with software tools such as Jama, Cameo, MATLAB/Simulink, Confluence, JIRA, Git, Creo, and Windchill.
Experience with payload hazard and controls identification, safety process, and products.
Experience supporting a project through the product development lifecycle.
Compensation Range for:
CA applicants is $146,644.50-$205,302.30;CO applicants is $134,838.38-$188,773.73;WA applicants is $146,644.50-$205,302.30Other site ranges may differ
