This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Facilities, and Security. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

As part of a diverse and hardworking team of experts, you will oversee Projects/Programs that grow the capability of New Glenn Manufacturing Operations through insourcing capabilities enhancing vertical integration. This support will include but is not limited to generating business cases and Return on Investment profiles to support vertical integration, planning and execution of vertical integration through first article inspection, establishment of manufacturing processes, and the transformation of the manufacturing process as our footprint expands. This will include planning, estimating, and execution of these projects with integrated teams. You will lead and share in the team’s impact on all aspects of developing the next generation launch and space vehicles at our manufacturing facility at our Rocket Park Manufacturing Complex in Merritt Island, FL.

This individual will initial report to the Vice President of New Glenn Manufacturing Operations, charged with the integration and execution of projects/programs across all functions to improve performance while ensuring compliance with technical requirements as we increase production rates to meet customer launch demand. We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. The Technical Project Leader is responsible for ensure success in tactical execution, by supporting, communicating, and coordinating activities between supporting organizations involved in stage production. They will leverage experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Configuration Management and Project Leadership to ensure we are able to successfully drive performance.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Applying Technical and Project Leadership expertise to support the team and develop and drive a culture of accountability

  • Aid the Operations team in facilitating effective decision-making on complicated scenarios that will have a major effect on the organization.

  • Participate in regular meetings with the Operations VP and leadership team to evaluate organizational barriers to success and develop courses of action to overcome such issues.

  • Collaboratively responsible for effective, efficient, focused, and adaptive decision-making in a high-velocity, intense aerospace environment

  • Ensure information is appropriately gathered, organized, rendered, and presented to maximize decision speed; ensure decisions are executed as intended; manage the capture, assignment, tracking, implementation, and institutionalization of actions for Operations VP.

  • Maintain and manage strategic and tactical topical priorities; act as integrator connecting work streams that would otherwise remain siloed; manage the communication cadence and collaboratively develop content with the Operations VP and Rocket Park Leadership Team.

  • Development of all required project/program artifacts to support planning (schedule and Financial), execution, and delivery of all products including the development of: WBS Structure, Cost Collection Structure, Requirements, Statement of Work, Deliverables, etc.

  • Experience with varying levels and implementation of Earned Value Management and how to use the data to lead the team to success

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to leverage Engineering experience coupled with Project Leadership

  • Well-developed project-management skills: organized and focused, showing attention to detail, and following up consistently to ensure results

  • Excellent “people skills” including ability to influence by persuasion without direct authority; when appropriate, ability to act with the authority (and style) of the VP

  • Communication skills to collaborate with the VP and leadership team to help refine and implement written and verbal messaging (both “up” to executives and “down” to the workforce) to ensure that it is understood by the right audiences

  • Demonstrated domain experience operating within at least one corporate function (Manufacturing Engineering, Configuration Management, Operations, and Integrated Project Leadership preferred)

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, preference toward Engineering Disciplines (Manufacturing/Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering)

  • 10 years of relevant program management/operational experience

  • Program Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred

  • Excellent communication skills: verbal, written, data

  • Ability to balance technical, business, and organizational influences

  • Demonstrated history of independent work, foreseeing problems, delivering on commitments, and accountability

  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
