This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration heavy-lift launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to Earth’s orbit and beyond. Engineered with a reusable first stage and a seven-meter payload fairing, New Glenn is building the road to space.
As part of a hardworking team of diverse & cross-functional specialists, you will work across subsystems and support integrated solutions to achieve our vision of “millions of people living and working in space.” You will share in the cross-functional test team’s impact by developing test plans and procedures that will be used throughout the New Glenn testing lifecycle. This role is a combination of test and operations development, planning and documentation, hands-on running tests, and problem solving/data analysis, with a strong emphasis on Hydraulics & electro-mechanical integrated systems.
In this role, you will support integrated test leads by carrying out test development engineering activities according to Blue Origin standards and practices. You will collaborate with responsible engineers and designers to plan tests of the vehicle systems and subsystems, ensuring these tests are designed to verify the pertinent requirements. You will lead critical test reviews and test readiness reviews, developing test methods to efficiently complete integrated system testing, and support subsystem development testing to reduce program risk.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering
- 5+ years of current technical hands-on experience in:
- Experience developing, writing, and updating test procedures
- Strong technical writing and communication skills
- Hands-on experience with hazardous testing with a strong safety record
- A proven track record of working successfully in multiple disciplines
- Experience leading test teams as a Test Conductor or Test Engineer
- 5+ years of current technical hands-on experience designing, testing, or operating in at least two of the following disciplines:
- Experience with hydraulics and/or turbomachinery
- Experience operating, designing, or maintaining hydraulic ground support equipment
- Electrical Harnessing & Instrumentation
- Inert Gas Systems (GN2, GHE, NITROX)
- Hazardous Chemical Processing (Nuclear, Oil & Gas, Industrial Chemicals)
- Experience in system engineering practices formal or informal
Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in engineering or similar
- Experience operating Vehicle Hydraulics Systems
- Experience operating Ground or Flight Pressurized Systems
- Experience troubleshooting multidisciplinary issues deriving root causes for non-nominal test issues
