This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. As a Business Operations Systems Engineer, you will help improve New Glenn’s ability to deliver on schedule, successfully fly payloads, and maintain cost discipline.
This role is part of the Glenn Stage One (GS1), Business Operations and Product Strategy team, supporting critical mission success by owning processes that evaluate and incorporate engineering changes, as well as managing the long-term roadmap for product upgrades. This position ensures seamless integration of engineering changes while maintaining operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and sound configuration management. This role directly impacts mission success by minimizing change-related risks/costs/error rates, while accelerating process timelines, and ensuring organizational compliance with company policies and industry best practices. The position requires a strategic mindset combined with hands-on execution capabilities to support both routine operations and high-intensity launch campaigns.
The successful candidate will work under the direction of leaders within the GS1 Business Operations & Product Strategy team. Strong technical skills and excellent communication are a must, as the individual will frequently collaborate across Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Operations. Responsibilities:
- Serve as functional manager for all change processes and change owners across GS1
- Manage change board readiness, including agenda preparation, stakeholder coordination, and follow-up actions
- Coordinate and direct change readiness activities, ensuring smooth transitions of systems, processes, and operational adoption
- Collaborate with program business intelligence resources to ensure accurate and timely reporting of proposed change or upgrade risk/reward
- Lead and coordinate governance boards at director level and escalate to GS1 Element (VP) level as required
- Drive adoption of latest tools and AI capabilities for continuous process improvement
- Implement strategies to reduce error rates, increase process speed, and enhance organizational communication
- Ensure compliance with company policies and industry best practices at all organizational levels impacted by program changes
- Deliver comprehensive training, office hours, and hands-on support to change owners and stakeholders
- Maintain upgrades reporting accuracy and product evolution roadmap
- Where applicable, apply processes and lessons learned to other primary business operations workstreams, including bill of materials accuracy, inventory management, and resoure planning.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in systems engineering, program management, or related scope
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder processes
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and presentation skills for executive-level audiences
- Demonstrated ability to work in high-pressure, fast-paced environments with competing priorities
- Strong understanding of aerospace systems, manufacturing processes, and regulatory compliance requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in change management tools, project management software, and business intelligence platforms
- Experience with PowerBI, advanced data analytics, or related dashboard development tools
- Experience in aerospace or high-tech manufacturing environments
- Certification in Change Management (e.g., Prosci) or Project Management (PMP)
- Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma methodologies and continuous improvement practices
- Experience with AI/ML tools for process optimization

Required for Certain Job Profiles: Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification (obtained before onboarding), Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing (CDL drivers only), vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training.
Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
