At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!

The role is part of the In-Space Systems business unit, which is focused on addressing two of the most compelling challenges in spaceflight today: space infrastructure and increasing mobility on-orbit.

As part of a hardworking team of program and project management professionals, we are seeking a Program Protection Manager to serve as the focal point for program security and protection strategy across the lifecycle of our programs. In close coordination with program mgmt, Engineering, Contracts/Legal, Finance, and customer counterparts, you will lead the development, execution, and sustainment of the Program Protection Plan (PPP)—the single-source, living document that integrates systems security engineering, risk & threat analysis, cybersecurity, and program controls to safeguard Critical Program Information (CPI), mission-critical functions and components, and system data. The position falls within the PMO team reporting to the Director of Business Operations.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Own the Program Protection Plan: author, maintain, and align it to lifecycle milestones and core program artifacts.
  • Coordinate cross-functional security strategy; serve as the program’s primary interface for protection matters.
  • Identify CPI, assess threats and vulnerabilities, and drive prioritized mitigations (e.g., engineering, anti-tamper, supply chain risk).
  • Track protection risks and report progress; deliver clear, high-quality documentation and briefings.
  • Support proposals by defining protection scope, resources, and cost/schedule inputs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Active Top Secret (TS) clearance required; ability to obtain and maintain additional accesses as needed.
  • Demonstrated excellence in technical writing over multiple years: ability to clarify, structure, and communicate complex technical content; authorship of formal plans, analyses, or specifications.
  • 5+ years of practical experience in highly technical roles
  • Hands-on experience with systems security engineering concepts (secure design, anti-tamper, supply chain risk), and protection of CPI/mission-critical functions and components.
  • Program management experience in structured environments (driving scope, schedule, budget, risk) and cross-functional execution.
  • Familiarity with relevant standards and frameworks (e.g., NIST SP 800-53/800-171, RMF, DoD program protection guidance, export control under ITAR/EAR).
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (e.g., AE, ME, EE, CE, SE), computer science, or a closely related technical field.
  • Experience developing and maintaining PPPs or analogous security-focused program artifacts.
  • Experience implementing anti-tamper techniques, cyber-resilient architectures, and supply chain risk mitigation within complex, multi-supplier programs.
  • Background in aerospace development or space systems, with exposure to DFARS-based contracts and government customer engagements.
  • Advanced proficiency with creating and managing complex program documents; strong attention to detail, configuration control discipline, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Demonstrated ability to earn trust, influence without authority, and maintain positive, professional relationships across engineering, PMO, and security communities.
  • Proficiency with program planning and collaboration tools (e.g., Confluence/Jira) and in leading cross-functional reviews and working groups.
