WHAT YOU'LL DO


As a Lead Knowledge Analyst (LKA) within BCG's Insurance Practice Area, you will work in a growing global team as a part of the Insurance product suite of the Insurance Knowledge Team, providing industry expertise and insights. You will contribute to BCG projects and proposals by delivering knowledge and insights from customized knowledge assets and expert advisory. Through our insurance product offering, you will support case teams and clients identify and develop profitable growth opportunities - by building insurance market value pools and performing clients' competitive benchmarking.

With guidance from senior colleagues, you will support the development of new offerings and maintenance of existing intellectual property & knowledge assets. You will act as "the first line of defense" in data quality & validation and model building, ensured via a hands-on working approach, substantial experience, and robust documentation framework for the product. You will focus on the entire spectrum of the insurance industry - Life, Property & Casualty, Commercial & Reinsurance, and Health insurance. You will also be responsible for managing content on BCG websites, ensuring the availability of the latest, high-quality content. You will support business development and go-to-market efforts of the sector business as opportunities arise, contributing research and analysis to marketing efforts.

YOU'RE GOOD AT


  • Establishing credibility with case teams by identifying and addressing critical knowledge for cases; taking positions/drawing conclusions on a range of external and internal issues
  • Providing customized knowledge for client work, preparing accurate and well-developed documents and charts
  • Applying in-depth understanding of insurers financial reporting (income statement & balance sheet and financial analysis thereof) to build key proprietary assets of the Insurance Practice Area
  • Building deep analytical models (using Excel, SQL, and other technical platforms) to drive market projections and perform insurer financial benchmarking
  • Working collaboratively and effectively with internal (global knowledge teams) and external stakeholders/experts to gather insurance knowledge for different global markets to further strengthen the analysis and storyline for each market
  • Communicating with senior stakeholders to manage expectations, being credible and proactive to validate results from market and benchmarking models
  • Drawing meaningful messages out of data and the ability to customize the analysis and insights for the client in the context
  • Framing, structuring, and sharing intellectual property, with the ability to write clearly and concisely
  • Working creatively and analytically in a time-limited, problem-solving environment
  • Flexibility and bring a curious and creative mindset, open for new things and able to propose innovative ideas
  • Constructive work ethics in a well-knit team

YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)


  • 6+ years of insurance-related industry experience preferably including financial analysis / financial planning/market modeling related expertise; ability and affinity to develop deep knowledge in insurance industry topics
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred
  • Good knowledge of data modeling and visualization tools like Excel, SQL, Alteryx, Tableau, etc.
  • Mastering VBA and/or Python considered a "plus", but not a "must"
  • Solid knowledge of and affinity for database and analytical tool management
  • Collaborative work style with solid work ethics, service-mentality, and experience of working in a matrix organization
  • Strong ability to work with multiple clients in a fast-paced environment, prioritize requests and manage expectations of clients, strong multi-tasking capabilities
  • Strong analytical capabilities – financial and operational data, data management and manipulation, statistical analysis and modeling
  • Superior problem solving
  • Good slide writing & storylining
  • Effective written & verbal communication (will interact with clients)
  • Fluency in English

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION


The Knowledge Team (KT) is a group of functional and/or industry experts leveraging deep domain knowledge to enable insight for case teams and clients. KT members are affiliated to BCG Practice Areas, plugged into the strategic agenda and building and deploying leading edge IP data tools/assets to deliver insight.

BCG's Knowledge Team members have the opportunity to be staffed on cases and help co-create insights with case teams and clients through expert perspectives on industry trends, delivery of proprietary data or tools in a particular function and complex research and analysis of market information. KT members also support the PA’s business development and proposals and help to organize and codify the knowledge that enables BCG to deliver superior business value for its clients.
