WHAT YOU'LL DO


Role Title: Global Services Human Resources Director (1 open role)
Job Location: BCG London Canary Wharf Office (Hybrid), Candidates must be within 50 miles of office

Our Global Services HR team has an opportunity for an experienced HR business partner to help drive and deliver the people strategy for the Global Services Digital Products Organization (DPO). The DPO is made up of ~900 employees consisting of ~700 IT employees plus alignment of ~230 cross functional team members. The role of the Business Partner extends further than this supporting the strategic objectives and delivery of DPO, including activities related end-to-end within the IT function.. As a strategic business partner to leadership, you will bring deep technical Digital and HR expertise that connects all aspects of the people agenda.

Reporting to the HR Senior Director for the IT Function, this highly dynamic and relationship-oriented role has the following primary focuses:
  • Partnering with senior leadership: (IT Leadership Team, Cross functional Executive & Senior Directors) to interpret how the people strategy is most effectively applied, nuancing as appropriate. Leading the execution of the people strategy to ultimately deliver on the DPO strategic priorities.
  • Strategic Partnering: Working closely with IT and Cross Functional leaders and Functional HR Business Partners to develop & implement HR strategies that closely support business objectives, leveraging analytics to drive decision-making. Acting as a thought leader with senior level presence to lead and counsel on individual and team leadership and transformational changes.
  • Advising on Organizational Design and Change: Providing counsel to leaders Functional HR Business Partners the features of an optimal org design to deliver their goals in alignment with Agile Design principles and also considering location, seniority, job design, spans, layers, controls etc. Guiding leadership on how to transition from the current org design to the proposed version in a way that is compliant with the spirit & letter of labor law and BCG policy, including equal opportunity best practice. Inputting to the planning of organizational change plans.
  • Partner with IT HRBP SD to drive the Digital Overlay for SD and Agile@Scale role leveling and SBST DPT calibration.
  • Leading Talent Management & Development: Designing and operationalizing innovative programs that drive talent development and deployment and the Agile Operating Model. Collaborating with leaders (and their teams) and the Agile CoE and L+D partners Functional HR Business Partners provide and communicate a framework of effective development opportunities and compelling career path options. Facilitating the performance and talent review cycles and supporting leaders with succession planning, with a focus on how we develop and support our worldwide SBST community.
  • Facilitating Resource Planning: Partnering with leaders to define their annual resource plan within the growth parameters and location strategy, optimizing levers to increase market penetration and operational efficiency whilst managing risk. Lead talent and headcount management across DPO during the ABR/QBR processes in close partnership with DPO leadership and Finance and Functional HR Business Partners.
  • Provide thought partnership and guidance for leaders on organizational design, location decisions, career pathing and capability-building, in line with the people strategy.
  • Take an active role in driving and supporting projects and initiatives relation to the development of DPO, e.g. talent development and upskilling and engagement. Leveraging our revised modern job architecture and companion learning and career development program, Career Compass/Compass+ in coordination with our Talent Partners.
  • Collaborate with Talent Partners to analyze data/trends from annual performance development, talent management and compensation review cycles to drive, shape and action the people strategy.
  • Partner with DPO leadership to undertake the interpretation and communication of DPO pulse survey outcomes and contribution to the creation of related action plans.

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills. Effective at building trust & credibility with senior leaders and influencing in high stakes scenarios and driving high impact.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with ability to use data to draw and communicate insights, form narratives, and to prioritize and influence decisions. Strong Excel skills required.
  • Clear, persuasive communication and story lining skills, including engaging use of presentation and visualization tools.
  • Structured thinking and the intellectual capability to translate ideas into a coherent proposal.
  • Advanced slide-writing skills essential to lay out strategic initiatives in an innovative, compelling and highly polished manner.
  • Consultative & change management skills, with strong conceptual thinking.
  • Clear, concise verbal communication skills, with absolute fluency in English. Excellent presentation skills, both in person and in a virtual setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, coupled with skills & drive to progress initiatives with minimal oversight.
  • Ability to handle competing priorities with flexibility, whilst maintaining strategic alignment.
  • Ability to lead projects in a timely manner whilst keeping stakeholders engaged & informed.
  • Excellent coaching and facilitation skills, with experience of leading workshops and presenting to senior leadership.
  • Strong HR technical skills & understanding of contemporary talent management practices.
  • Independently juggles multiple priorities to meet deadlines and resolves complex problems.
  • A positive, pragmatic, and solution-oriented approach, with a high degree of professionalism.
  • Ability to use experience and judgment to make decisions often based on partial information.

YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)


  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Human Resources, Organization Development or other related field is preferred; professional qualification or advance degree preferred.
  • 11+ years of relevant experience. Preferably management consulting and mid-large global company experience.
  • Must have experience with Agile methodology/ways of working with a Digital employee population.
  • A strong track record of success driving people strategy in a consensus-driven, intellectually intense, and matrix-structured environment.
  • Experience in a global role and working with colleagues from different parts of the world, demonstrating cultural sensitivity and an ability to develop relationships in a virtual context.
  • Consulting experience in a People & Organization practice or success as a highly strategic HRBP.
  • Strong HR technical skills & understanding of contemporary talent management practices.
  • Keen adopter of new technology.

YOU'LL WORK WITH


You will report to the Senior HR Director (Boston) and partner with the HR Senior Manager (Atlanta) in the HRBP team, but also be part of the broader Global Services HR community collaborating and working closely with your counterparts in the HR Delivery, Operations CoE and Innovation, Change and Transformation teams. Your principal stakeholders will be Executive and Senior Directors, partnering with them to drive performance, deliver an outstanding employee experience for their teams, and to meet the organizational needs of this dynamic and rapidly expanding part of BCG.
