What You'll Do
The position is a member of the Global Investments, Consolidations, Accounting and Reporting (“GICAR”) team under the direction of the Global Accounting Senior Director. The GICAR team is part of a broader team, the Global Accounting and Control (“GAC”) team that is under the direction of the Global Finance Executive Director & Corporate Controller. The GAC team has various responsibilities including consolidating and reporting BCG's financial information on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. In addition, GAC is responsible for establishing and communicating various accounting policies and procedures globally across BCG. The team is responsible for the dissemination of meaningful and accurate financial information on a consolidated basis, as well as on an individual affiliate office basis.
The position is focused on participating in the activities needed for the GICAR team to prepare BCG’s consolidated financial statements in compliance with US GAAP and BCG’s internal management reporting guidelines. The Senior Global Accountant will be responsible for reviewing affiliate office results (statutory, US GAAP, and management reporting financial statements), preparing various accounting/reconciliations for BCG’s offices, and helping with various corporate accounting activities. This position will also be involved in assisting with ad-hoc activities/projects for GICAR (i.e. policy documentation, process improvement/automation efforts, system integration, senior leadership presentations, etc.) based on the direction of the GAC Directors and Managers.
The Senior Global Accountant will be a critical resource to various leaders within the GICAR team and will partner with other GAC team members including the Managing Director and Partner (“MDP”) Accounting and Revenue Accounting teams. The role will also work closely with teams within other functions in Global Finance (including Tax, Treasury, and Financial Systems) and affiliate office finance & accounting teams across the world.
- Participate in the preparation of BCG's financial reporting including consolidated US GAAP financial statements and internal management reporting
- Assist with reviewing affiliate entity local statutory financial statements requiring global director approval
- Review affiliate office monthly reporting packages to ensure compliance with BCG’s accounting policies; analyze actual results compared to forecasts and prior year results
- Build strong working relationships with the local office finance teams by providing decision-making support on a variety of accounting and reporting issues
- Review and track reconciliations received from affiliate offices
- Participate in the creation, documentation, and implementation of internal accounting policies and procedures
- Managing various global mailboxes and workflows to resolve complex accounting and reporting issues with various local offices.
- Supporting month-end activities and working with various cross functional teams to get the activities done on a timely basis.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and streamlining in existing activities, make recommendations on improvements and lead implementation
- Assist with various corporate accounting activities as needed (i.e. consolidations, eliminations, CTA reviews, pressure testing numbers, etc.)
What You'll Bring
- 3–5 years of accounting-related work experience, including experience with US GAAP accounting and financial reporting
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required
- CPA or CPA track preferred
- Previous experience working in a major public accounting firm or a large multinational company within a multi-currency environment, where foreign operations represent a significant portion of consolidated results
- Sound knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS
- Detail oriented and analysis focused
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; comfortable interacting with peer group, senior leaders, and third-party service providers
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities along with day-to-day responsibilities
- Strong work ethic, professional attitude, and reliability
- Experience using SAP-based accounting systems is a plus but not required. Knowledge of SAP Business Objects, or other comparable systems is a plus but not required
- Advanced computer literacy (use of Windows and corresponding software applications including PowerPoint, Excel and Word)
- Experience with advanced data analysis/reporting tools a huge plus but not required (i.e., Tableau, Alteryx, Python, etc.
Who You'll Work With
GAC team members come from a wide variety of professional and cultural backgrounds. This position will spend a considerable amount of time working with other teams within GAC including GICAR, MDP Accounting, and Revenue Accounting. This position will also work closely with local accounting/finance teams across the world and with teams within other functions in Global Finance including Tax, Treasury, Financial Systems, Global Field Operations and Financial Planning & Analysis.
