What You'll Do
As a Manager within BCG’s Center for Customer Insight (CCI) and a leader on the CCI Vantage team, you will spearhead efforts to expand, modernize, and commercialize our “NextGen” customer research methodologies and our portfolio of “insights infusion” offerings (i.e., products designed to inject rich, rapid insights into BCG’s strategy engagements).
You will bring a strong expertise in primary customer research, with particular experience leveraging AI-powered “qual at scale” tools and/or synthetic consumers. You will have a deep interest in how technology is transforming the insight-generation process, and proven background as an early-adopter of “NextGen” insights tools in client work. You will play a pivotal role in evolving CCI’s insight capabilities, embedding “NextGen” methods that accelerate fieldwork & synthesis, enhance human understanding, and expand the scope of insight-infused consulting across industries.
You will collaborate closely with BCG commercial leadership, topic leaders, and case teams to design and execute advanced customer insight programs, guide application of “NextGen” tools, and shape the go-to-market roadmap for our Insights Infusions portfolio. Within the first 6-12 months, you will manage a small team of 2-3 direct reports who are dedicated to deploying CCI Insights Infusions tools.
Specific responsibilities will be:
- Lead the development, refinement, and commercialization of CCI’s insights infusion offerings, especially those leveraging AI, digital qual, and large-scale customer understanding
- Act as a subject matter expert and internal advisor, helping BCG case teams scope, design, and execute primary research programs that combine human and machine intelligence
- Partner with CCI and commercial leaders to embed AI-powered insight generation methods across the consulting process—from early discovery through strategy development
- Serve as a champion and educator for modern research methods and the insights infusion portfolio, helping expand awareness and adoption across industries and practice areas
- Identify, pilot, and scale new AI-enabled tools, methodologies, and use cases—bridging cutting-edge technologies with applied strategic relevance
- Contribute to marketing materials, proposals, thought leadership, and internal capability building to drive visibility and impact
- Eventually grow and lead a small team of insight professionals, mentoring talent and helping scale the function
YOU'RE GOOD AT
- Leading end-to-end customer research (particularly qualitative and mixed-method approaches), with a focus on speed, scale, and synthesis
- Designing and executing research using advanced digital and AI-enabled customer insights tools (e.g., automated transcription, large-language-model–based analysis, digital ethnography, social conversational mining, synthetic customer data, insights integration platforms, etc.)
- Translating complex, unstructured insight into clear, strategic recommendations and client narratives
- Experimenting with and operationalizing emerging research technologies within a rigorous consulting environment
- Acting as an “insight translator,” helping non-research stakeholders understand and apply AI-powered insight methods meaningfully
- Building and maintaining cross-functional relationships with commercial, topic, and consulting teams
- Communicating with senior stakeholders confidently and effectively, tailoring insights to their needs
- Managing a portfolio of projects, balancing technical quality, client relevance, and business impact
- Working effectively in an evolving, fast-paced, and often ambiguous environment
What You'll Bring
- 4+ years minimum, 6-10+ years of marketing research / consumer insights industry experience strongly preferred OR in lieu of industry experience, 3+ years consulting experience with focus on “NextGen” customer insights / customer intelligence enablement programs
- Demonstrated experience in primary customer research, with hands-on experience applying AI, qual-at-scale, synthetic, and/or automation tools to client challenges
- Strong familiarity with emerging tools and methods (e.g., large-scale text analytics, conversational AI, digital diaries, video/sentiment mining, open-text LLM synthesis)
- Demonstrated experience designing and executing mixed-methods customer research programs to address client challenges, with the ability to bridge insights across data types; Experience developing customer insight proposals / “pitching” work to clients a plus
- Experience translating data into strategic implications and commercial opportunity
- Prior exposure to sectors such as CPG, Retail, Tech/Media/Telecommunications, Financial Services, Travel & Leisure, and/or Healthcare preferred
- Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills; experience with data tools (e.g., Alteryx, Tableau, SPSS, Q, R) is a plus
- Bachelor's Degree required (advanced degree preferred)
- Fluency in English required (Spanish a plus)
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills to interact with internal and external stakeholders while working in a global collaborative team environment

In the US, we have a compensation transparency approach.
Total compensation for this role includes base salary, annual discretionary performance bonus, retirement contribution, and a market leading benefits package described below.
The base salary range for this role in Chicago is $126,400.00 - $132,000.00
This is an estimated range, however, specific base salaries within the range depend on various factors such as experience and skill set. It is not common for new BCG employees to be hired at the high-end of the salary range. BCG regularly reviews its ranges to ensure market competitiveness.
In addition to your base salary, your total compensation will include a bonus of up to 16% and a generous retirement contribution that starts at 5% and moves to 10% after 2 years.
