What You'll Do

As a member of BCG’s Global IT Design CoE, you will commission and deliver user research across the firm’s digital product ecosystem using a range of user research methodologies. Your research will support the UX research strategy to shape the design of next-generation SaaS platforms, digital ecosystems, virtual assistants, websites, apps, and Agentic AI-driven solutions. You will contribute to enhancing the consultant experience lifecycle through improving productivity and helping to create a distinct competitive advantage for BCG and its clients.

Role Overview

We are seeking a User Researcher to join our User Research team based in the Global IT Design Centre of Excellence.

Key Responsibilities

User Research & Insight-Driven Design

  • Conduct generative and evaluative mixed methods research (quantitative and qualitative) to understand user needs, validate concepts and refine designs that enhance user experiences and business outcomes.
  • Lead studies independently end-to-end using the right blend of qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Triangulate research findings with behavioural/journey analytics to provide a holistic view of the user and guide prioritisation.
  • Synthesize qualitative and quantitative data into clear, credible insights that evaluate designs and end-to-end journeys, grounded in evidence and aligned to business objectives.
  • Translate insights into actionable recommendations, prioritised opportunities, and experiment hypotheses—shaping product roadmaps and measurable journey improvements.
  • Demonstrate rigor in selecting, applying, and documenting research to ensure high‑quality, trustworthy insights which adhere to GDPR guidelines.
  • Leverage internal AI tools to enhance and accelerate research planning, data collection, and insight generation.
  • Contribute to growing the research function by proposing Research Ops improvements e.g. standards, governance, AI innovation etc that are aligned to the research strategy.

Impact Measurement & Continuous Improvement

  • Implement metrics and KPI’s which evaluate and track UX impact and communicate value to stakeholders.

Cross- functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner deeply with engineering, product, design, data analytics, and business stakeholders to define business problems and hypotheses for testing.
  • Engage with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams to frame the right problems, align on required decisions, and co-create innovative solutions that drive business value.
  • Foster strong relationships to advocate for evidence-led and user-centred design decisions.
  • Work closely with experimentation teams to shape hypotheses and identify test opportunities.

Increasing Customer Centricity

  • Support colleagues to run their own tactical research through training and mentoring.
  • Actively contribute to the research repository and encourage wider team adoption to increase customer centricity, and to prevent duplication of work.

What You'll Bring

Experience

  • 4+ years of experience in a pure UX research role within enterprise or consultancy environments.
  • Expertise in a range of user research methodologies - proven ability to independently run, end-to-end, qualitative and quantitative research projects including moderated and unmoderated usability tests, interviews, large scale surveys, concept tests.
  • Experience in running both discovery (strategic) and evaluative resarch.
  • Sharp analytical thinker with strong insight synthesis and storytelling skills, able to turn complex data into meaningful actionable insights.
  • Proven ability in influencing and driving business decisions through the delivery of impactful and actionable insight.
  • Good understanding of user centred design principles and design thinking methodology.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Experienced in working with designers, product managers and data science teams to deliver user research.
  • Skilled at presenting - able to proficiently deliver insights to diverse audiences through compelling storytelling.
  • Hands‑on experience using and applying AI in research to improve efficiencies, productivity and insight generation.
  • Proficient in user research tools e.g. UserTesting, Content Square, Maze, Dovetail, Verint, Qualtrics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Human Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
