What You'll Do
The Control Statement &Metrics Data Steward (Director) is the senior data leader responsible for the data logic, metadata, and quality that underpin BCG’s Control Statement (CS) and the firm’s Management Accounting KPIs (such as Net Client Charges, Client Service Margin, Billability, Multiplier, Leverage, PVF, NCC per MD(P)). Control Statement and Management KPIs are integral for managing our firm and driving key decisions.
Reporting to the Finance Data Owner, this role ensures that all CS and KPI data is accurate, consistent, governed, and technically implemented correctly across finance systems (i.e. SAP.), lead-to-cash processes and systems (“ClientView”), BI tools, and global reporting environments.
The Data Steward partners closely with the CS & Metrics Business Process Owner (in the FP&A team), who owns process and metric governance. The Steward provides the data foundation and technical reliability that enable the BPO to execute their governance mandate effectively.

What You'll Do

- Metadata Management (Mappings, Hierarchies, Lineage)
- Mapping tables
- Hierarchies

- Change tracking
- Act as key liaison between FP&A, Global Accounting, Enterprise Data, Finance and BI&A Portfolios
- Lead cross-functional team discussion to design (requirement gathering) and implement any change to logic (i.e. new /amended metrics, changes to Enterprise Structure, etc) and troubleshoot any issues that arise
- Proactively manage process or system changes end-to-end , i.e. with Finance, Data and BI&A teams to ensure changes are appropriately reflected in CS/KPI data logic
- Provide requirements and expected results to the Data & BI&A teams when changes need to be implemented)
- Technical updates align with governance standards
- Cross-system data integrity is safeguarded
- Drive the Data Quality Agenda for CS & Metrics
- Finance functional teams across different levels (from local to global)
- Portfolio teams (in particular Finance and BI&A)
- Enterprise Data
- Senior Data Partner to the CS & Metrics BPO
- Validate technical feasibility of metric or CS changes
- Ensure data readiness and reliability
- Implement technical and metadata updates required by the BPO
- Extensive experience in Finance data management, data governance, reporting architecture, or related data leadership roles.
- Strong understanding of Management Accounting concepts and financial performance metrics, preferably in a consulting/services organization
- Expertise in data quality management, metadata governance, data lineage, and KPI calculation logic.
- Experience with SAP S/4 HANA, SAP data models, and modern BI/reporting tools.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional data initiatives, to approach problem solving end-to-end and to influence stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and documentation skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to translate business requirements into data models, logic specifications, and system implementations.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
- Finance Data Owner — direct manager and strategic data governance leader.
- CS & Metrics Business Process owner (BPO) — primary functional partner responsible for CS and KPI governance.
- Enterprise Data — for alignment with enterprise-wide data standards, procedures and architecture, embedding in “Data Steward” chapter; close collaboration with other Data Stewards (e.g. Finance, Org, Worker etc.)
- Local to Global Finance teams (in particular FP&A teams) — e.g. data quality issue resolution and insights.
- Product Portfolios (Finance, BI&A) — for technical logic, workflow updates, and system implementations.
