What You'll Do
The Korea Operations Director defines and drives the Korea Operations strategy, leading a team of approx. 20 staff and acting as a strategic business to the Office Leader and local MDP group. The role ensures the office operates efficiently, cost-effectively, and in alignment with regional and global priorities. In a fast-paced professional services environment, the Director anticipates evolving business needs and translates strategy into an actionable Operations roadmap—balancing service excellence, cost discipline, and risk mitigation. The role proactively enhances operational effectiveness, scalability, and governance across operations services.
You will be the key member of Business Service Team (BST) leadership in Korea (alongside the People Senior Director and Finance Senior Director). As part of this team, you will play an important role in building strong internal functions and capabilities for BCG, contributing to BST policy decisions and being a visible role model for BST engagement/affiliation. You will also have key relationships with our global/adjacent Operations teams and Specialty functions in Korea.
You’ll Work With
You'll be working closely with the Korea Office leader, and other BST functions (Finance, HR, Mktg, IT) and Operations Team. You’ll be interacting closely with the Consulting staff. Externally, the role manages strategic supplier relationships, ensuring BCG secures the best value, service, and innovation in the industry.

- Overseeing and managing the facilities, interiors and infrastructure of the office, which include:
- Responsible for the negotiation and stakeholder engagement process for office lease
- Leading the process to co-ordinate new fit outs and refurbishments
- Key relationship with global real estate for developing business cases, analysis and capital requests
- End-to-End ownership of operations team and functions, including
- Developing and shaping the operations agenda, ensuring the operations function continues to evolve with changing business needs as our external environment changes
- Ensuring delivery of high-quality, reliable day-to-day office and administrative services through effective oversight and performance management.
- Negotiate and build relationships with key suppliers to ensure the best price, quality, and service – travel agencies, facility management firm, ground transportation providers, etc.
- Ensuring that our IT, Vantage, Language Service and Design Studios functions, while reporting globally, are integrated effectively and being used strategically to deliver against BCG Korea needs
- Leading major office-wide internal events such as All Staff Workshop and Year-end Party, Home Coming Day etc.
- Managing procurement, travel, safety and security
- Create, implement & manage applicable policies and processes including travel, meetings, credit card, and information & document management
- Manage compliance process for consultant driven suppliers/contractors
- Lead disciplined cost management and productivity initiatives, identifying and executing sustainable cost optimization opportunities while protecting service quality.
- Own and continuously strengthen Korea’s operational risk, safety, and security protocols, ensuring alignment with global standards and business continuity expectations.
- Supervise Operations Team, including Managers, Office Management Team, Executive Assistants Team and any contingent resources needed to bolster the team’s fluctuating capacity
- Lead structured change and improvement initiatives across Operations, driving measurable enhancements in efficiency, service quality, and business impact.
- Create and monitor service quality metrics for the team, and remedying issues as they arise
- Lead performance management and actively develop managerial capability within the team, ensuring succession readiness across key roles.
- Review team resource planning and ensure proper work allocations across staff
- Foster a high-performance culture grounded in accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- General Management and Leadership Support
- Act as a trusted advisor to the Office Leader and MDPs on operational trade-offs, cost implications, risk exposure, and service model evolution.
- Provide broader support to the Office Leader and MDPs in “running the business”, including new cross functional initiatives.
- Embed a culture of cost discipline and continuous improvement while maintaining a high standard of service delivery.
- Represent Korea Operations in AP regional forums, contributing to best practices and ensuring alignment with global standards.
- Champion adoption of digital tools, automation, and standardized processes, leading structured process improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, transparency, and user experience.

What You'll Bring
- Extensive relevant experience (15+years)
- Experience in a professional services firm preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills both in Korean and English
- Broad knowledge in overall business management including HR related knowledge
- Excellent management skills: ability to provide honest yet empathetic feedback and support in the development of employees' capabilities and resolve problems that affect performance
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; clarity, tact, professionalism and consensus building skills – in writing, speaking and presenting information. Able to effectively persuade, influence, and negotiate, as appropriate
- Taking a strategic yet pragmatic perspective to complex business problems; ability to frame potential solutions and help team members bring the solution to life
