What You'll Do
Join the CT GenAI Portfolio, part of BCG’s Marketplace ecosystem, where we build and scale GenAI-enabled assets, tools, and platforms that power Case Teams (CTs) and Practice Areas (PAs) globally. The CT GenAI Portfolio focuses on enabling next-generation AI-driven offerings by combining strong governance, trusted data, and responsible GenAI practices.
As a Global Data Governance Senior Manager, you will drive and determine data governance and information management standards that enable Marketplace offerings at scale. This role does not sit in a traditional centralized data delivery team; instead, you will operate at the intersection of product, engineering, legal, IT, and business teams to ensure governance policies and standards are translated into operational practice across domains.
You will be accountable for establishing scalable governance frameworks, formalizing processes, and ensuring that data used across Marketplace assets is trusted, classified, secure, and managed across its lifecycle—balancing compliance, usability, and innovation in a complex, global environment.
Responsibilities include:
Governance Frameworks & Operating Model
- Drive the definition and continuous evolution of BCG’s data governance standards and operating model aligned with CT GenAI Portfolio and Marketplace priorities.
- Design, formalize, and institutionalize scalable governance frameworks, standards, and policies that support GenAI-enabled products across domains.
- Serve as a recognized subject-matter expert for GenAI-related data governance, advising senior product, engineering, legal, and business stakeholders.
- Lead governance forums and decision-making bodies to ensure alignment, prioritization, and adherenceto enterprise standards.
- Build and scale governance capability by developing and mentoring data stewards and domain governance leads
Data Quality, Metadata & Lifecycle
- Establish and monitor domain-level data quality standards and KPIs (e.g., accuracy, completeness, consistency) across Marketplace assets.
- Drive adoption of metadata, glossary, classification, and lineage standards to enable trusted GenAI and AI-assisted use cases.
- Partner with technical teams to define governance tooling requirements and oversee implementation within modern data platforms.
- Formalize and enforce policies covering data creation, acquisition, usage, retention, archival, and disposal, ensuring alignment with regulatory, ethical, and enterprise standards.
Business Value, Prioritization & Adoption
- Drive prioritization of high-value data assets that materially enable GenAI adoption and Marketplace scalability.
- Own and articulate the enterprise value of governed data assets, translating governance investments into measurable business impact and risk mitigation.
- Navigate complex, cross-functional trade-offs to align governance investments with enterprise priorities.
- Define and monitor governance KPIs and maturity indicators to ensure sustained adherence and continuous improvement.
- Champion a culture of data responsibility and accountability across domains.
Responsible Data & GenAI Governance
- Establish and enforce role-based access controls, data usage guardrails, and secure handling of sensitive or restricted data.
- Define and evolve responsible AI and GenAI data governance standards, including privacy, transparency, and ethical usage considerations.
- Advise senior leaders on governance trade-offs, risk exposure, and compliance implications.
- Ensure governance controls are embedded by design within GenAI-enabled Marketplace assets.
YOU’RE GOOD AT
- Advanced understanding of data and analytics management and operations (e.g., data quality, metadata, master data management).
- Advanced knowledge of data stewardship and governance, including privacy and ethical AI.
- Translating enterprise data policies into formalized processes and scalable governance operating models.
- Driving cross-domain alignment and adherence to governance standards in complex, matrixed environments.
- Influencing senior stakeholders and shaping governance-related decisions.
- Leveraging modern data platforms and governance tools to monitor, manage, and report on data quality and lifecycle controls.
What You'll Bring
- 8–10+ years of experience in data-related roles (e.g., Data Governance, Data Management, CDO Office, BI & Analytics).
- Experience implementing and scaling data governance standards in global, multi-domain environments.
- Advanced understanding of data governance and management best practices, including operating models, stewardship, metadata, data quality, and lifecycle management (experience with frameworks such as DAMA DMBoK or EDM Council DCAM is a plus).
- Experience with data governance tooling such as data catalogs and data quality monitoring tools, ideally in a GenAI context.
- Familiarity with modern data platforms and technologies (e.g., Snowflake, SharePoint) from a governance, metadata, and lifecycle perspective.
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior business and technical stakeholders and drive adherence to standards.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in computer science, mathematics, statistics, or a related field.
Who You'll Work With
- BCG Global Consulting Practice Areas (Functional & Industry) and Data teams: the Data Product Portfolio, Data Governance CoE, Master Data Mgmt., Enterprise Data Modelling, and Data Product development teams
- BCG IT, Knowledge Team and PA Specific data teams: business intelligence and analytics, operations, and technical teams, among other business functions
