What You'll Do

The ideal candidate will serve as the technical lead for BCG's SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud ERP platform, driving architectural decisions and delivering solutions for complex business requirements across the firm's Finance function. Working within an Agile squad environment, this role goes beyond hands-on delivery — the candidate will be responsible for defining the technical direction, establishing best practices, and ensuring the overall quality and scalability of the ABAP Cloud extensibility landscape. As a technical leader, you will partner closely with functional, finance to translate complex requirements into robust, future-proof architectures. You will also serve as a coach and mentor to junior and mid-level ABAP engineers, elevating the capability of the broader team

What You'll Bring

• 10+ years of ABAP development experience, with at least 2–3 years in S/4HANA Cloud (Public or Private Edition).
• Demonstrated experience in a technical architect or lead role, owning solution design for complex ERP extensibility programmes.

Deep expertise in:

• • CDS View modeling and virtual data model (VDM) design
  • RAP BO lifecycle including managed and unmanaged scenarios
  • WRICEF object development at scale
  • Key User and Developer Extensibility frameworks
  • SAP API and Communication Scenario configuration
  • BADI Framework implementation with upgrade-safe techniques
  • Adobe Forms in S/4HANA Cloud
  • Object-Oriented ABAP and Design Patterns
  • Job creation and monitoring in cloud environments
• Strong grasp of SAP Clean Core strategy and its practical implications for extensibility decisions.
• Proven ability to set technical direction, govern standards, and influence without formal authority.
• Experience coaching and mentoring engineers across different levels of seniority.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both technical teams and non-technical business stakeholders.

Architecture & Solution Design

• Architecting end-to-end extensibility solutions for SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud, balancing business complexity with SAP's Clean Core principles.
• Leading solution design for complex WRICEF objects, RAP Business Objects, and API-based integrations, ensuring scalability, reusability, and upgrade compliance.
• Evaluating trade-offs between Key User Extensibility, Developer Extensibility, and side-by-side extension approaches, and recommending the right fit for each scenario.
• Defining and governing the overall technical blueprint for ABAP Cloud extensions across the ERP landscape.

Technical Leadership & Standards

• Establishing and enforcing ABAP development best practices, coding standards, and design patterns across the team.
• Leading and governing peer code reviews, ensuring adherence to Clean Core, OOP ABAP principles, and maintainability standards.
• Driving performance tuning and optimization strategies at an architectural level, not just at the object level.
• Staying current with SAP roadmap, release notes, and emerging extensibility capabilities, and proactively advising the team on adoption.

Delivery & Hands-on Contribution

• Designing and implementing advanced CDS Views, RAP BOs, BADIs, OData/REST APIs, and Communication Arrangements for complex business scenarios.
• Overseeing Transport Request strategy including Software Collections, TR sequencing, and dependency management across landscapes.
• Performing deep-dive issue analysis, root cause analysis (RCA), and impact assessments for critical production and test environment issues.
• Configuring and managing Job Scheduling and Application Jobs in the S/4HANA Cloud environment.

Coaching & Mentoring

• Acting as a technical mentor and go-to resource for junior and mid-level ABAP engineers on the team.
• Conducting knowledge-sharing sessions, technical workshops, and design walkthroughs to upskill the broader engineering team.
• Supporting engineers in debugging complex issues in Eclipse ADT and guiding them toward sustainable, best-practice solutions.
• Providing constructive feedback during code reviews with a focus on growth and capability building.
