What You'll Do

As a Manager – BCG Vantage on our Topic Activation path within BCG's Consumer Practice Area, you will collaborate and partner in a growing global team, providing merchandising expertise and insights. You will work together with case and proposal teams to provide knowledge assets, analysis and expert advisory. You’ll serve as a thought partner and content expert to case teams and merchandising leaders, helping structure and solve complex issues.

Additionally, as a Manager – BCG Vantage you will drive development of intellectual property and knowledge assets to support the merchandising business, serving as an active contributor to commercialization efforts for the topic/sector, whilst working with business leaders to drive proposals & go-to-market efforts. As an Manager – BCG Vantage, you may line manage a team of junior colleagues, taking responsibility for their goal setting, ongoing feedback and career development support.

BCG’s Consumer Practice is one of the firm's largest industry practice areas and continues to grow continuously across all regions. BCG’s Consumer practice creates breakthrough innovations for clients in three sectors: consumer goods, retail, and fashion & luxury.

YOU'RE GOOD AT

  • Solving complex client problems through relevant analytical approaches and customized solutions in your area of expertise
  • Driving development and maintenance of knowledge assets e.g. tools, sector/topic materials, based on different client contexts
  • Communicating with senior stakeholders, demonstrating the ability to engage your audience effectively
  • Managing a portfolio of projects, with strong awareness of business priorities and commercial impact
  • Training, coaching, and mentoring junior team members
  • Working in an ever changing and complex environment, and comfortable with ambiguity and navigating a fast-paced environment


What You'll Bring

  • Deep merchandising and retail economics expertise, including assortment strategy, category management, inventory optimization, and a strong understanding of retail P&L drivers (e.g., margin, turns, GMROI)
  • Advanced analytical and modeling capabilities, with experience applying quantitative methods to merchandising challenges such as demand forecasting, price elasticity, promotion effectiveness, and assortment optimization using large, complex datasets
  • Ability to translate analytics into clear, actionable merchant decisions, distilling complex analyses into practical recommendations that drive measurable revenue, margin, and inventory impact
  • 3+ years consulting experience in relevant merchandising roles required; candidates with consulting experience preferred
  • In lieu of consulting experience, 4+ years minimum industry experience required; 6-10+ years of industry experience strongly preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree required (advanced degree preferred)
  • Expertise in relevant Merchandising topic
  • Fluency in English
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills to interact with internal and external stakeholder while working in a global collaborative team environment

In the US, we have a compensation transparency approach.

Total compensation for this role includes base salary, annual discretionary performance bonus, retirement contribution, and a market leading benefits package described below.

  • The base salary range for this role in the listed cities is $126,400 - $132,000


This is an estimated range, however, specific base salaries within the range depend on various factors such as experience and skill set. It is not common for new BCG employees to be hired at the high-end of the salary range. BCG regularly reviews its ranges to ensure market competitiveness.


In addition to your base salary, your total compensation will include a bonus of up to 20% and a generous retirement contribution that starts at 5% and moves to 10% after 2 years.
