What You'll Do
To realize our digital transformation, we need to evolve not only our technology platforms, but also how we design, connect, and scale collaboration experiences across the firm. Delivering a connected, intelligent, and secure collaboration ecosystem is critical to enabling BCG teams to work faster, smarter, and with greater impact.
As a Solution Architect within the Digital Collaboration portfolio, you will define, design, and validate technology solutions that operate across a complex ecosystem of collaboration, messaging, productivity, and AI-enabled tools. You will act as a decision facilitator, integrator, and thought leader, helping product teams navigate trade-offs and design solutions that are scalable, secure, and aligned to enterprise strategy.
Digital Collaboration is one of BCG’s most strategic and expansive portfolios, spanning Microsoft 365, email, messaging platforms, collaboration tools, and emerging AI capabilities. In this role, you will bridge enterprise architecture, product teams, and engineering, ensuring that solutions are not designed in isolation but as part of an integrated collaboration ecosystem.
You will play a key role in shaping cross-platform architecture, connecting Microsoft and non-Microsoft tools (e.g. Slack, Zoom, Miro, others), defining integration patterns, and ensuring consistent user journeys across collaboration experiences.
You will contribute to the evolution of AI-powered collaboration, supporting adoption and integration, ensuring that architecture decisions enable scalable, secure, and context-aware experiences across the portfolio.
In addition, you will support the transformation of internal applications and workflows, including the evolution of new and emerging solutions into more integrated, user-centric and modular architectures.

Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Designing end user solution architectures that optimize for integration, usability, security, and scalability
- Facilitating architectural decisions and documenting them through structured artifacts that preserve context, rationale, and decision traceability
- Designing solutions that adhere to enterprise architecture standards and guardrails, aligning stakeholders around scalable and consistent architectural outcomes
- Identifying cross-squad dependencies and resolving architectural misalignments
- Supporting product squads in translating business problems into scalable technical solutions
- Contributing to the architectural runway through epics, patterns, and reusable designs
- Researching emerging technologies and evaluating their applicability within the DC ecosystem

Education and Certifications
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
- 7+ years of experience in IT architecture or solution design
- Experience in Digital Workplace, Collaboration or SaaS ecosystem
- Certifications preferred (Desired):
- Microsoft Certified: M365 / Azure
- Architecture or Cloud certifications
- Security and compliance certifications (nice to have)
- Copilot AI certification (nice to have)
- Solution Architecture Design across complex, multi-platform environments
- Architecture modeling (conceptual and logical)
- Target Conceptual and Logical Architecture design
- Automation / Workflow design
- Experience designing solutions across:
- Microsoft 365 (Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Outlook)
- Messaging & collaboration tools (Slack, Zoom, Miro, Trello, Jira)
- Strong understanding of APIs, webhooks, and SaaS integrations
- Demonstrated awareness of industry trends and collaboration technologies, with the ability to translate market insights into innovative, high-impact solutions for the portfolio
- Understanding of modular, scalable application design
- Understanding of email routing, security, and compliance (Exchange, Mimecast or similar)
- Experience with creating and managing Architecture Assets such as Solution Designs, ADRs, and RAID logs to support structured decision-making and context-driven documentation
- Ability to align architecture decisions with data protection and governance frameworks

- Scrum Leads / Agile Coaches to align architecture work with delivery cadence and cross-squad coordination
- Key stakeholders (business and technical) to consult on solution designs, ensuring alignment, validating assumptions, and driving shared ownership of architectural decisions
- Chapter Leads and Technical Owners to ensure consistency and alignment
- Security, Data, UX, and Change teams to deliver solutions that are secure, compliant, and user-centered
- Other Architects and Enterprise Architecture to drive cross-portfolio integration and strategic alignment
