What You'll Do
The Accounts Payable Accountant will be a key member of the Middle East Finance team, based in Dubai. In this Temporary role until January'27, you will collaborate closley with the Accounts Payable, Vendor Management, and Accounting teams to ensure accurate and efficient processing of invoices and payments.You will play an important role in strengthening and stabilizing finance operations by supporting day-to-day AP activities, SAP system stabilization, and ongoing finance transformation initiatives.
Additionally, you will assist in troubleshooting system-related issues, improving workflows, and supporting end users as the organization adapts to new SAP functionalities. This position offers a valuable opportunity to develop strong operational and systems expertise within a dynamic finance environment that emphasizes accuracy, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
As finance systems and processes continue to stabilize, the role will gradually expand to focus on optimizing AP controls, supporting AI technology enhancements, and driving the implementation of best-in-class finance practices across Middle East entities.
Overall responsibilities include:
- Accounts Payable Operations
o Review, verify, and approve vendor invoices in COUPA, ensuring compliance with accounting principles, cost allocation accuracy, and appropriate tax treatment (VAT/WHT).
o Manage invoice workflows and ensure that all documents meet the organization’s approval, coding, and documentation requirements.
o Work with EP&P team closely for weekly payment runs for multiple Middle East entities and ensure timely settlement of all approved payables.
o Work closely with the Vendor Management and Tax teams to resolve invoice discrepancies, payment holds, and urgent requests.
o Maintain vendor accounts by regularly reconciling balances, monitoring open items, and resolving outstanding issues.
o Support internal stakeholders (procurement, travel, project teams) with payment inquiries and ensure accurate coding of costs to projects, cost centers, or GL accounts. - SAP System Transition & Stabilization
o Support the ongoing stabilization and optimization of the SAP environment following the successful implementation phase, with a focus on strengthening end-to-end Accounts Payable processes.
o Actively participate in identifying, investigating, and resolving system and transactional issues while ensuring data accuracy and proper integration between SAP and COUPA modules.
o Review workflows, transaction outputs, and system controls within SAP to ensure alignment with business requirements, accounting policies, and operational best practices.
o Collaborate closely with IT, Accounting, and Vendor Management teams to troubleshoot discrepancies, enhance system configurations where required, and maintain smooth process continuity.
o Contribute to the enhancement and standardization of finance procedures by documenting process learnings, system behaviors, and operational guidelines to support end users and improve team efficiency.
o Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and control enhancement to optimize AP operations and support a stable, efficient, and scalable finance environment across Middle East entities. - Month-End Close & Compliance
o Assist in month-end and year-end closing activities, including preparation of accruals, prepayments, and reclassifications in SAP.
o Prepare and review VAT returns for UAE and KSA entities, ensuring correct tax reporting in accordance with local regulations.
o Support audit requirements by preparing detailed reconciliations, vendor confirmations, and documentation for both internal and external audits.
o Maintain proper documentation of all AP transactions in compliance with company policy and statutory requirements. - Process Improvement & Continuous Learning
o Identify process bottlenecks and recommend automation or system-driven solutions to enhance efficiency and accuracy across the AP function.
o Work closely with the Accounts Payable, Accounting, Vendor Management, and Tax teams to strengthen collaboration and alignment on end-to-end processes. Given the hands-on nature of SAP stabilization, this role requires active, on-site engagement with team members to ensure real-time issue resolution, knowledge transfer, and effective process coordination.
o Engage in cross-training and knowledge-sharing sessions to broaden understanding of upstream and downstream finance processes, ensuring seamless handoffs and holistic process awareness.
o Continuously upgrade skills and knowledge of SAP functionalities to act as a go-to contact within the team.
o Maintain a proactive approach to learning and adapting to new system updates, tax changes, and internal policy shifts.

What You'll Bring
- University degree in Accounting / Finance
- Approximately 5 years of relevant experience, experience in accounts payable preferred
- Previous professional services experience is preferred
- Experience using SAP and COUPA preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Fluent in written and spoken English
Who You'll Work With
You will work closely with the Finance team and will report to the Accounting Manager. You will interact with internal teams as well as ME leadership. You will liaise with our banking partners and other external parties.
