Practice Area

BCG Platinion launched in Germany in 2000 to add deep technical expertise to the Boston Consulting Group’s existing capabilities. Today, our presence spans across the globe, with offices in Asia, Europe, and South and North America. Our New York-based North American team began in 2014 and in 2017 acquired MAYA Design, a Pittsburgh-based digital design and innovation lab, to grow our capabilities around technology and design.

We support our clients’ total digital transformation through technology, design, cybersecurity, and risk management & financial engineering capabilities. And together with BCG, BCG Platinion’s interdisciplinary team of technical experts enable customized technical solutions and accelerate delivery value through new business platforms, application consolidations, and major system implementations.

What You'll Do

As an AI Tech Architect within BCG Platinion’s AI Platforms Group, you will help clients unlock the value of Generative AI by translating business needs into practical, scalable, and secure technology solutions. You will work alongside BCG consultants, Platinion architects, engineers, and client teams assess existing technology environments, support the definition of target architectures, and the implementation of modern AI platforms.

You will combine architecture knowledge with hands-on technical experience to address complex AI and machine learning challenges. Through exposure to a range of client contexts, you will deepen your expertise in Generative AI platforms, cloud technologies, data architectures, and responsible AI while contributing to solutions that can be integrated into enterprise environments.

YOU WILL

• Analyze existing application, data, and technology landscapes to identify AI architecture opportunities and constraints.
• Support the design of Generative AI and machine learning architectures aligned with client requirements and enterprise standards.
• Support technology decisions across foundation models, retrieval-augmented generation, orchestration, guardrails, and MLOps.
• Evaluate cloud platforms, AI services, middleware, and tooling based on scalability, performance, security, and cost.
• Develop architecture views, technical roadmaps, and business cases with support from senior team members.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of AI platforms and prototypes.
• Support the review of technical solutions, vendor proposals, and implementation approaches for architectural fit and quality.
• Explain complex architecture concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.

The Expert Consulting Track (ECT) is vital to BCG’s ability to successfully meet our clients’ demand for deep expertise and advanced technical capabilities. Experts deliver next-level impact for BCG's most complex and cutting-edge client challenges. Experts focus on developing BCG's thought leadership, commercial capabilities, and intellectual property assets; and their work is essential to our delivery model. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team to bring the ‘best of BCG’ to our clients, Experts come from diverse backgrounds, with expertise often gained outside of BCG in industry, academia, or specialized consulting.

What You'll Bring

• 0–2 years of relevant experience in AI/ML, software engineering, or technology consulting
• Fluency in English and Spanish
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
• Experience designing, developing, or implementing AI, machine learning, or Generative AI solutions in enterprise environments.
• Proficiency in Python and familiarity with languages such as TypeScript, JavaScript, or R.
• Experience working with AI frameworks and libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, LangChain, or LlamaIndex.
• Understanding of large language models, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), prompt engineering, vector databases, MLOps, and responsible AI principles.
• Knowledge of cloud AI platforms and services, including technologies such as Azure AI Foundry, AWS Bedrock, or Google Vertex AI.
• Experience designing scalable data architectures and integrating structured and unstructured data for AI applications.
• Developing ability to evaluate architectural options and communicate technical trade-offs to both technical and business stakeholders.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
• Curiosity and willingness to continuously learn emerging AI technologies and apply them to solve complex business challenges.

YOU’LL BE TRAVELING

At BCG Platinion you will have the opportunity to travel around the globe to work with clients and BCG teams. At times, this role involves significant travel to client sites. The amount of travel will depend on client needs and nature of projects.
