About the role:
Boston Scientific is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Principal Engineer to lead product and process development, leading the design and commercialization of new technologies. The role will solve technical challenges in a hands-on and fast-paced global environment while collaborating across multiple functions. The successful candidate will provide strong leadership and problem-solving skills to drive medical device innovation. Use your technical and collaboration abilities, along with your passion for innovation and continuous improvement, to achieve efficient and effective commercialization of new products and targeted enhancements. This position offers the opportunity to support process development and product commercialization within Boston Scientific's global plant network.
Your responsibilities include:
- Assesses process capabilities, prioritizes process improvement opportunities, and innovates and implements process improvements on multiple and moderately complex processes.
- Applies technical knowledge to innovate, design, and develop processes, procedures, tooling and/or automation.
- Executes the functional deliverables associated with the PDP/TDP, Project Management, and Quality Systems.
- Prepares and presents technical data and recommendations at technical reviews.
- May be the technical lead on projects or lead portions of projects
- Ensures proper documentation is completed to meet quality systems requirements. (e.g., BOM’s, Routers, FMEA’s, etc.)
- Oversees development builds associated with the project using special work requests.
- Develops qualified production lines.
- Provides Design for Manufacturability (DFM) input to the engineering print package.
- Contributes ideas to or generates Intellectual Property submissions.
- Possibly supervise and/or mentor engineers with the team.
Required qualifications:
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field with mechanical background
- 7+ years engineering experience
- Demonstrated use of DFSS tools (DOE, problem solving)
- Demonstrated cross functional teamwork in technically demanding environment.
- Open to occasional travel.
Preferred qualifications:
- Advanced degree desired
- Highly motivated individual that can independently drive deliverables to completion through collaboration among team members.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and drive innovative solutions into processes and products.
- Medical device design experience; new product development
- Familiar with motion control and troubleshooting microelectronic applications.
