What is Technology Consultancy?

Digital technology is advancing at pace and continuing to shape the built environment. Buro Happold provide the technology expertise clients require to determine and implement their digital vision.

Our clients can benefit from bespoke strategies, followed by robust engineering solutions that holistically consider risk, operational requirements, the business case for technology investment and the wider architectural vision. By engaging in leading research and development, we navigate and influence the industry whilst enabling our clients and their projects with the future of technology experiences.

Our knowledge and position across digital technology and the construction industry uniquely qualifies us to offer services uncommon to traditional engineering practices. We work directly with clients to uncover benefits that can be realised through the successful deployment of a broad range of technologies. Alongside this, we work with architects, technical specialists, utilities providers, technology providers, contractors, engineers and other stakeholders across all project phases to ensure the building design scheme is capable of meeting the current and future digital needs of its users.

What sort of projects do the technology team work on?

Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, UK: We worked closely with Tottenham Hotspur from early-stage design through to construction, site support and beyond. Our design ensures the stadium has the capability to host premier league, champions league, NFL and concerts.

Tun Razak Exchange: Our team assisted the Malaysian development company in strategizing and designing the communications and technology masterplan for this exciting and vibrant new finance centre for Kuala Lumpur. The solutions developed had to be robust, reliable and highly scalable to cater for the anticipated growth in the development over the next 20 years.

King Salman Park, Riyadh: This immense redevelopment of part of downtown Riyadh is building a new 'Green Heart' for the nation's capital, providing open and verdant spaces and buildings to learn, exercise, relax and enjoy. The technology team is helping bring the vision alive by generating communications infrastructures and digital services deployment pathways for a variety of different types of assets and spaces from Museums to Art centre to Theatres and Horticultural Centres.

What would I do?

  • Challenge existing ways of working in order to break new ground and to find new solutions to existing problems
  • Work on complex architectural designs and develop and integrate workable and bespoke technology solutions (basic knowledge of BIM technology and 3D modelling is advantageous)
  • Support various projects at various scales and commit to ensure deadlines are consistently met.

What are we looking for?

We are a proudly diverse team with academic backgrounds and qualifications that span electronics and communication, IT, cognitive science, product design engineering, mechanical and energy engineering, project management, building information modelling, and so on.

We are looking for current students who can contribute to our broad range of skills and have a keen interest in technology and the benefits it can bring to buildings and people; be it commercial, operational, environmental or experiential.
