About You

Are you an experienced sustainability consultant looking to grow your expertise and make a difference on projects across the world? Buro Happold is looking to recruit an Senior or Associate Sustainability Consultant to join our Sustainability & Physics Team at our office in Warsaw.

What’s the purpose of the role?

Sustainability Consultants work across a broad range of consulting projects in Poland and internationally. The work delivered by the team relies on broad holistic and integrated thinking combined with strong and grounded knowledge around the built environment - underpinned by data, experience and informed analysis.

To help continue driving our offer to the next level we require ambitious and enterprising consultants with a focus on applying their skills on strategic corporate and master planning projects, with a focus on decarbonisation of the built environment.

A detailed overview of your responsibilities is as follows:

  • Energy analysis and energy audits for urban environment on local and international projects,
  • Technical and economic analysis of decarbonisation strategies
  • Providing written comments and producing reports and presentations with excellent visual and grammatical quality.
  • Task leadership and direction / mentorship of more junior team members
  • Working as part of multidisciplinary teams (including, but not limited to attending meetings with architects, planners, government agencies and clients)
  • Formulating external presentations for outreach and business development

Desirable specialist skills and qualifications include:

  • Experience of producing decarbonisation strategies/pathways for buildings, campuses, or organisations,
  • Knowledge or experience of technical and economic appraisal of low carbon technologies,
  • Capable of advising clients and project leaders on the technical and economic performance of a range of low carbon energy, water and waste infrastructure solutions, sustainable measures, technologies and holistic solutions for building, masterplan, and policy projects,
  • Experience with thermal modelling in IES
  • Production of analytical and visually appealing reports and presentations to clearly communicate outcomes of analysis and recommendations,
  • Exuding passion and enthusiasm for the built environment to support human outcomes and fair distribution of value.

Qualities expected from the candidate:

  • Willingness to constant development and improvement of qualifications
  • Developed interpersonal skills (including teamwork)
  • Pro-activity and solution-oriented attitude, ability to manage time, organise own work and prioritise tasks
  • High work ethic, reliability, and meticulousness, including responsibility for the outcome of assigned tasks within a collaborative team environment.

It would also be advantageous if you could demonstrate the following:

  • Listed as a energy auditor with a track record of building energy audits
  • Assessment system qualifications (e.g. LEED, BREEAM, WELL) and evidence of practical competence of their application
  • Good German (minimum B2)
