We are looking for a talented and experienced Plumbing & Fire Protection Engineer to join our hybrid team in Atlanta or Durham.
The Plumbing & Fire Protection Engineer will work closely with clients, architects, other Buro Happold Engineers, and/or design team members as part of a dedicated and skilled team. Duties include the production of coordinated detailed design drawings, specifications, written reports, site observation reports, schedules etc. on a variety of projects.

Your next role
As a key part of the team, your responsibilities will be varied, but likely to include:
- Communicate directly with Clients
- Organize technical and financial proposals for new work
- Manage workload of Project Discipline Engineers and Technicians (including verification of quality)
- Take responsibility for concept and preliminary engineering solutions for detail design & prepare Technical Specifications
- Monitor financial performance of jobs
- Set up and manage job/project administrative systems, including planning and monitoring job resourcing/expenditure (adjusting these as necessary).
- Keep senior staff informed of important and relevant service/design decisions and the objectives of the client are achieved.
- Continually ensure practices, policies, strategy and services represent the client’s best interests and that BH policy is in keeping with current legislation and the relevant building codes for the relevant state etc.
Your skills and experience
- 10+ years of plumbing and fire protection engineering experience
- Relevant Bachelor or Master degree
- PE desired
- Experience using Revit, HydroCad and/or Hass preferred
- Broad design knowledge, from working on a wide range of US and International projects such as laboratories, healthcare, commercial, higher ed for example
- Ability to run projects successfully
- Confident, proactive character, able to take the lead in challenging situations
- Good communication skills, experience in dealing with other employees and external clients
- Corporate membership of a relevant institution
- Organization, combined with ability to work independently
What we offer:
- Depending on your experience, you would join us as an Associate or Associate Principal
- Salary range for Associate would be $105,000 to $130,000 and for Associate Principal would be $130,000 to $175,000 This will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience
