In onze Rotterdamse locatie hebben wij een vacature voor een (Associate) Director in de afdeling Constructies. Binnen deze functie ligt er een sterke focus op leiderschap, klantrelaties, conceptontwikkeling en innovatie. Bij Buro Happold werk je aan de meest uitdagende (inter)nationale projecten. Zo ontwerpt Buro Happold de hoogste woontoren van de EU, maar ook een zero-energy laboratorium in Amsterdam. In internationaal verband werken we o.a. aan een sportgerelateerd complex in Riyadh.

Responsibilities:

• Strategy
  • Build timely plans to effectively contribute to the firm’s 1-3-6 year growth strategy in Europe, with a focus on the Dutch market
  • Develop strong brand recognition and a high profile in the Dutch marketplace with clients, referral sources, external partners, the community and other stakeholders
  • Represent Buro Happold as a professional leader in the industry, thereby maximising business opportunities and the return for all stakeholders
  • Ensure that the global policy framework covering all aspects of the business is implemented effectively so that the firm and the region discharges its legal responsibilities while ensuring that all corporate risks are mitigated and managed effectively
  • Ensure that the governance structure and operational framework allows the region to operate effectively in accordance with internal policies and procedures, local and applicable international law and ethical standards
  • Use deep local knowledge to build composite alignment between Buro Happold’s global strategy and the opportunities presented by the Dutch market

• Operations
  • Project Management
    • Project Leader and/or Project Director for appropriate projects, taking ownership for sustained and productive client relationships across the Netherlands
    • Where appropriate delivering support to projects shared across the region or to other regions, taking responsibility for the consulting solutions while ensuring financial success
    • Delivering diligent project solutions, maintaining technical excellence and commercial acumen throughout
  • Technical Leadership
    • Maintain the skills balance within the group in line with the defined strategic direction
    • Ensuring rigor is delivered on each project, and in particular ensuring design QA processes are fully planned and implemented
  • Business Development
    • Identifying the Rotterdam Office marketing goals and establishing an associated plan
    • Winning work – actively identifying and converting leads to projects within the framework of the Structures group marketing strategy
    • Dynamic focus on new business in the Hamburg market; broadening coverage of high-quality clients and projects across a range of market sectors
    • Promoting Buro Happold’s integrated services to potential Clients
    • Reviewing submissions/proposals; attending interviews
    • Developing and maintaining key client relationships under all circumstances, maximizing opportunities for repeat business

• Finance
  • Ensure projects under your leadership are financially successful
  • Proactively address the issue of cost recovery, ensuring improved DSO performance
  • Ensure the Structures group is financially successful

• Reporting
  • Reporting on technical, commercial, financial and people performance of the office as determined by the Structures Partner in Rotterdam
  • Reporting on project performance as appropriate to firstly the Structures Partner in Rotterdam and sometimes also to inform the Regional Structures Board

Your Background:

• Strong track record of business development, particularly in the Dutch market
• Experience leading teams on international projects (minimum 10 years)
• Must be proficient at operating in a global matrix organisation.
• Excellent communicator (verbal, written, listening) and competent at presenting in Dutch and English.
• Degree educated and ideally Masters qualified in relevant subject(s)
• Overseas work experience (desirable)
• Strong commercial orientation – focussed on developing technical solutions and strategies with clear commercial outcome.
• Creative thinker and problem solver
• Able to offer inspiration and coaching to more junior employees, both in respect of technical and commercial matters.
• Strong cultural awareness, capable of operating efficiently across geographies
• Mobility to travel in role
