As a Regulatory Change Manager and risk management professional in Capital One’s Commercial Bank organization, you will apply your skills to the division’s assessment and implementation of new and/or amended laws, rules, and regulations, at the state and federal level; you will be part of a team that ensures the Commercial Bank products, services, and processes are in compliance with new and/or changed legal requirements.

You will develop strong partnerships within the Commercial Risk organization, as well as with Compliance, Legal, the Commercial Bank lines of business, and second line partners, to review and assess the applicability and potential actions required for a broad range of new or changed laws, rules, and regulations. In doing so, you will be responsible for researching business practices, assessing and understanding the impact of the new/changed law/reg, effectively communicating impacts to business partners, and driving implementation of necessary changes in business processes and controls.

You will develop and support best-in-class industry risk solutions in a manner that supports innovation and protects our customers, shareholders and associates. Commercial Risk professionals are experienced and innovative individuals that operate within a highly collaborative team environment to deliver value-added risk management services to our business partners. You will have a significant level of exposure across the organization and have the opportunity to work with partners to create and implement creative solutions to identify and mitigate potential risks to the Company.

The successful candidate will have strong analytical, research, influencing, strategic thinking, problem solving, organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Regulatory Change process for the Commercial Bank lines of business

  • Review and assess changes in laws and regulations for applicability and impacts to the Commercial Bank

  • Track, coordinate, and report on a high volume of regulatory changes

  • Research and review laws, rules, and regulations, and Commercial Bank business practices

  • Apply sound inquiry and analysis to make recommendations, decisions, and provide solutions

  • Communicate regulatory impacts to business partners, stakeholders, and executives

  • Prepare agenda materials and lead discussions for Regulatory Change meetings with stakeholders and partners

  • Drive implementation of changes in process and controls necessary to ensure compliance with changes to laws and regulations

  • Document decision and advice in the system of record

  • Manage multiple tasks independently to meet due dates; coordinate work between multiple areas simultaneously

  • Develop and leverage key relationships with stakeholders to enable effective collaboration and drive consensus across the organization

  • Track and stay apprised of the changing regulatory landscape and environment

  • Prepare and present monthly and quarterly reporting

  • Write and revise documents such as policies, standards, procedures, trainings and guidelines

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Military experience

  • At least 3 years of experience in legal, compliance, regulatory, audit or risk

  • At least 3 years of experience in understanding and communicating legal and compliance requirements to a non-legal audience

  • At least 3 years of experience supporting, partnering and interacting with internal business clients

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor degree

  • At least 5 years of experience in legal, compliance, regulatory, audit or risk

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including an ability to effectively explain legal and compliance requirements to a non-legal audience and build relationships to collaboratively achieve goals

  • Strong research, analytical, and problem solving abilities

  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment and flexibility to adapt to changing needs

  • Strong ability to drive consensus and influencing skills

  • Ability to identify and assess legal and compliance risks presented by new/changed laws/regs and a complex business model, and to communicate those risks to business partners
