The Retail Bank Risk Office is looking for a Senior Risk Associate to join the Bank Tech Identity & Access Management (IAM) Risk Team. This specific role will be part of the team focused on supporting Bank Tech IAM Monitoring & Operations. Our broader team is focused on providing advisory, consulting and governance services to Bank Tech partners in order to maintain a well-managed IAM environment. There’s also a strong focus on ensuring we build a strong risk posture to minimize our overall risk footprint.

As a Senior Risk Associate in this space, a common day could include reviewing access request intakes, approving and provisioning access requests through various applications/systems, completing onboarding and offboarding requests, and collaborating on high-visibility initiatives across the Bank Tech portfolio. This role will also include advising and making recommendations to Business and Technology Partners, overseeing Application and User Lifecycle Controls, Managing Certification Campaigns and more.

Job Responsibilities

  • Identify existing and emerging risks across the Bank Tech IAM Portfolio to drive a comprehensive IAM Risk Agenda.

  • Maintain a well-managed Bank Tech IAM Program by meeting/exceeding SLA for "keep the lights on" tasks (ie: Access Provisioning, Monitoring & Responding to Inquiries through All Access, Jira & Shared Mailboxes, Decisioning Requests for System Access, Managing Application Roles & Job Roles/Profiles, etc.).

  • Collaborate and partner with the Business, Technology and Cyber to drive a comprehensive IAM Risk agenda.

  • Provide input into and support risk engagements, demonstrating a well-managed program (control testing, process level assessments, risk assessments, audit responses, etc.)

  • Thoughtfully interpret policies, standards procedures and guidelines to assess impact Bank Tech IAM practices. Create, maintain & implement policies & procedures as needed.

  • Manage the Bank Tech IAM Control Portfolio by ensuring proper coverage of risk, proactively identifying opportunities to enhance controls and guiding & advising Control Performers to enable effective testing outcomes.

  • Develop reporting and metrics to monitor risk and progress against "keep the lights on" & strategic objectives.

  • Develop and present details related to IAM Risk, program initiatives & status and other significant events and activities related to Bank Tech IAM Risk during community/operating forums.

  • Identify opportunities to reduce risk across the Bank Tech IAM Portfolio, and develop creative solutions to automate associate access.

  • Partner with Business and Technology Teams to work towards quick resolution of all major issues and escalations related to IAM processes and practices.

  • Maintain a strong Risk Management focus and perspective to ensure Bank Tech and Capital One applications/processes/systems are well-managed.

  • Create, analyze and present complex datasets in a meaningful and user-friendly manner.

  • Communicate effectively in both a verbal and written manner. Proactively communicate progress against deliverables, escalating impediments & risks early and often prior to them becoming a larger issue.

  • Foster a culture of openness, collaboration and continuous improvement.


Basic Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of experience in Identity & Access Management (IAM)

  • At least 1 year of experience in Risk Management


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 1+ years of Relationship Management experience

  • 1+ years of Process/Project Management experience

  • 1+ years of experience in an Agile environment

  • 1+ years of Data Analytics experience
