Risk Managers have a high level of exposure across lines of business and have the opportunity to create and implement innovative solutions to appropriately manage risks.
Essential Functions (Responsibilities):
Manage a team of Risk Specialists and Data Analysts (DA)
Serve as the team's issue management lead addressing issues, defects, and other anomalies that may arise. The team will support resolution of Currency Transaction Reporting (CTR) issues as well as create and monitor transactional controls based on requirements in our new Core Data Transaction space.
Serve as a Liaison and partner with multiple Lines of Business (LOB) partners (Tech, Data Analysts [DAs], PDS, etc) and AML partners (tech, DA, Model teams, Advisory).
Clearly communicate, negotiate, and empathize while pushing for issue resolution is absolutely critical
Build strong partnerships and collaborate with other Risk Management and Technology divisions through weekly migration meetings. Review and clearly communicate all known issues, create solutions and workarounds, track status updates and maintain a detailed status log.
Understand basic Data Management principles.
Research and problem solve items identified by controls to ensure root cause is identified and appropriate teams engaged to correct. Deal with ambiguity.
Continuously seek to streamline and improve intake mechanisms, and improve tools and processes.. Provide internal team, stakeholders, and leadership with concise reports and detailed views.
Deliver excellent customer service in an ever changing environment in which priorities may change regularly. Step in and handle assignments and challenges to support other key partners that may arise.
The ideal candidate will possess:
Clear results orientation and focus on achieving both short and long term goals
A proven track record of supporting and working across business lines and functions and with a senior management team
Ability to perform data analytics using SQL, Python etc. Familiarity with enterprise data tools (E.g. Snowflake, Databricks)
Ability to navigate “white space” or ambiguous situations to drive and execute an agenda in a fluid environment;
Solid teamwork skills; ability to build and leverage the capabilities of a high-performing team; ability to motivate direct reports and drive team results
Highly developed interpersonal, presentation, and communications skills (written and oral) coupled with strategic influencing skills and the ability to drive agreement through intellect, interpersonal, and negotiation skills;
Strong judgment, influencing skills, integrity, and discretion in handling highly sensitive issues;
Ability to effectively challenge various partners across the enterprise (such as first line partners, Risk Management partners, etc).
Successful track record of thriving in both a highly regulated industry and a fast paced, entrepreneurial, and dynamic environment;
Strong process management, and organizational skills;
A collaborative, energetic, solution-oriented, and innovative leadership style;
Ability to balance operating independently with appropriate escalation and interaction with senior leadership; Assume personal responsibility for projects and follow-through to completion with minimal need for direct supervision
Willingness to work as a team player and interact with associates across functions, departments, and job levels, both inside and outside the Compliance Department; and
Understanding of key regulatory and audit requirements
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or military experience
At least 1 year of Financial Services Risk Management Experience
At least 3 years of management experience
At least 5 years of experience supporting, partnering and interacting with internal business clients
Preferred Qualifications:
3+ year of experience with Structured Query Language (SQL)
3+ years of Financial Services Risk Management experience
Ability to set direction, manage expectations and lead cross-functional teams
