Community Finance Team
Community Finance’s commitment to impact is clear. In 2023, the team originated $2.3 billion in debt and Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) equity investments that financed more than 14,000 affordable housing units. Since its inception, Capital One has invested almost $17 billion in affordable housing and provided financing for more than 160,000 affordable housing units.
Capital One’s Community Finance originates debt and equity to support affordable housing development. The team provides construction debt financing, as well as, invest in low income housing credits through proprietary and multifund equity fund structures. In addition the team partners with other lines of business to provide capital to Community Development Financial Institutions.

We partner with other teams within External Affairs and lines of business to create meaningful impact for customers and communities sustainably and at scale.
The Role:
Community Finance is seeking a strategically oriented and energetic Senior Manager RM with demonstrated experience driving innovation, impact and operational excellence to drive the expansion of Capital One’s Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) activities.
This role will report to the Senior Business Director accountable for developing a robust CDFI investment pipeline to execute our $600M CBP commitment. The role will serve as the face of CF and Capital One to the CDFI community. This associate should have a demonstrated record of delivering solutions, excel at relationship management, and have keen business and communications acumen.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Innovation -
Lead your team in best-in- class management of relationships; develop and maintain the company’s relationships with existing and prospective CDFIs and industry stakeholders; gather market intelligence by forging deep relationships; understand how Capital One shows up in our local communities and how we can help move the needle on socioeconomic mobility through investments in CDFIs.
Harness your team’s market intelligence to bring insights to broader Community Finance and External Affairs, shaping perspectives and informing investment decisions; share intelligence with peers across the company to deepen our shared understanding, promote collaboration, and maximize impact
Collaborate with executive leaders, your team, and other key stakeholders to establish business goals, plan portfolio growth, manage new and existing relationships, and perform proper pre-qualification underwriting of CDFI investments.
Lead across the organization to manage risk, support new business initiatives and continuously well-managed processes
Help craft a shared vision for the future, leveraging your expertise, leadership, and influence to provide clarity in complex situations, inspire breakthrough innovation and drive results
Adopt an enterprise mindset in strategy development and implementation, considering both the internal and external CDFI landscape
Proactively embrace and lead through change, with candor and optimism
Evolve to meet new and emerging opportunities and challenges, including enabling a try/test/learn team culture

Maintain overall responsibility for deal structure and economics; originate and follow transactions through closing, working closely with Credit, Underwriting, Loan Administration and other key partners throughout
Regularly evaluate and contribute to the improvement of our processes; always look to drive simple, scalable impact and durable results
Maintain a strong working knowledge of the bank, its customers, portfolio exposure, competitive environment, economic trends and policies
Partner with business and Community Finance functions to foster an environment of open dialogue around risk tolerance and credit appetite
Partner seamlessly with internal and external teams to develop and meet key milestones throughout the deal lifecycle
Coordinate with various CF functional teams and other departments in the servicing of client relationships
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or Military Experience
At least 6 years of experience in client management, business development, or financial services
At least 3 years of experience with mission-driven lending or investments or community development lending or investments
At least 3 years of People Leadership experience
Preferred Qualifications:
MBA or Master’s Degree in Finance
Experience in market analysis
At least 10 years of specialized experience pertaining to CDFI investing
At least 5 years of People Leadership experience

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean, VA: $193,000 - $220,300 for Sr. Manager, Community Finance
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
