Our people make all the difference in our success. We are looking for exceptional software engineers/developers in our PBM Plus Technology Organization. In this role, you will

• Run the production environment by monitoring availability and taking a holistic view of system health
• Build software and systems to manage platform infrastructure and applications
• Improve reliability, quality, and time-to-market of our suite of software solutions
• Measure and optimize system performance, with an eye toward pushing our capabilities forward, getting ahead of customer needs, and innovating for continual improvement
• Provide primary operational support and engineering for multiple large-scale distributed software applications
• Conduct audits of current API implementations to identify reliability gaps.
• Design and implement resilience features like circuit breakers, retries, rate limiting, and graceful degradation.
• Collaborate with development teams to build resilient APIs from the ground up.
• Set up automated monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to catch issues before users do.
• Ensure proper error handling, timeout management, and failover strategies.
• Write comprehensive test suites (unit, integration, load, chaos).
• Stay on top of updates, deprecations, and potential issues in third-party API integrations and dependencies.
• Contribute to internal documentation, standards, and playbooks for API reliability.

Responsibilities

• Gather and analyze metrics from operating systems as well as applications to assist in performance tuning and fault finding
• Partner with development teams to improve services through rigorous testing and release procedures
• Participate in system design consulting, platform management, and capacity planning
• Create sustainable systems and services through automation and uplifts
• Balance feature development speed and reliability with well-defined service-level objectives


Required skills and qualifications
• 5+ years of experience in backend/API development, preferably in a microservices architecture.
• Strong understanding of RESTful and/or GraphQL API design and security best practices.
• Proven experience implementing resilience patterns (e.g., bulkheads, circuit breakers, exponential backoff).
• Hands-on experience with API gateways (Kong, Apigee, AWS API Gateway, etc.).
• Familiarity with observability stacks (Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, etc.).
• Experience working with message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ, AWS SQS) and async patterns.
• Ability to program (structured and OOP) using one or more high-level languages, such as Java and JavaScript.
• Cloud-native mindset with experience in AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Bonus: Experience with service meshes (Istio, Linkerd) and chaos engineering tools.
• Experience with distributed storage technologies such as NFS, HDFS, Ceph, and Amazon S3, as well as dynamic resource management frameworks (Apache Mesos, Kubernetes, Yarn)
• Proactive approach to identifying problems, performance bottlenecks, and areas for improvement


Preferred skills and qualifications
• Previous success in technical engineering
• Coding experience beyond simple scripts

Location & Hours of Work

Full-time position, working 40 hours per week. Expected overlap with US hours as appropriate
Primarily based in the Innovation Hub in Hyderabad, India in a hybrid working model (3 days WFO and 2 days WAH)
