The Cigna Group, together with its wholly owned subsidiary Evernorth, is seeking talented students to join the Analytics Leadership Development Program (ALDP) as summer interns.

This internship is ideal for students who have a strong foundation in advanced analytics and data science, a passion for leadership, and a drive to tackle healthcare’s most complex challenges through data. The ALDP is designed to cultivate future leaders in analytics and data science by combining cutting-edge technical training—including artificial intelligence and machine learning—with business acumen, strategic thinking, and leadership development.

The ALDP internship offers:

Real work: Over the course of your internship, you’ll be assigned real business problems that challenge your analytical and technical skills while helping you build industry knowledge. Your work will also allow you to make direct contributions to our mission and company goals.

Example projects:

  • Build a predictive model to identify high-need customers for our clinical programs
  • Use machine learning techniques to create population clusters that allow us to communicate with customers in personalized ways
  • Analyze drivers of medical spend using statistical techniques and recommend actions we could take to mitigate cost increases
  • Measure the impact of a business initiative on customers and clients via a matched case-control study
  • Model the cost impact of changes in provider contracts on medical spend

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in a quantitative field, such as data science, statistics, business analytics, mathematics, or related major.
  • Demonstrated experience applying analytical methods, including:
  • Writing code in languages such as Python, R, or SAS
  • Developing models using techniques such as regression, decision trees, or machine learning algorithms (e.g., random forests, gradient boosting, neural networks)
  • Evaluating outcomes using statistical techniques (e.g., matched case-control studies, A/B testing, causal inference)
  • Familiarity with AI concepts and tools (e.g., natural language processing, deep learning frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch, large language models)
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working with relational databases and writing SQL queries
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Motivation to apply quantitative reasoning to real-world business and healthcare challenges Interest in leadership and collaboration, demonstrated through academic, professional, or extracurricular experiences
  • GPA of 3.2 or higher strongly preferred

Additional Information:

  • Location: The role is located at our Morris Plains, NJ office located at: 115 Tabor Rd, Morris Plains, NJ 07950
  • Housing: Summer housing is available for interns who live more than 50 miles from the Morris Plain, NJ office.
  • Work Authorization: One goal of this internship program is to prepare and identify qualified candidates for roles with Cigna post-graduation. Therefore, this temporary internship is open only to individuals who are eligible for employment in the United States and who would not require visa support including H-1B, CPT/OPT/STEM, etc., now or in the future.
  • Schedule: You must be available to work 40 hours/week for 12 weeks beginning May 18, 2026. Working hours are Monday – Friday, core business hours are 8:00AM – 5:00 PM Eastern.
  • Market Range: For this position, we anticipate offering an hourly rate of $33-40/hr.
