We are the Sales, Underwriting and Pricing technology team, a part of U. S. Employer Front End Technology organization. We build, and support mission critical applications used by U.S. Employer’s Sales Management, Underwriting and Pricing operations teams – quickly and reliably. Our systems process between 75K -95K sales opportunities per year across multiple market segments resulting in over 4.5 million pricing calculations. We are over a 100 code releases per year and support over 30 assets.
We are looking for a leader for this high-visibility leadership role where you’ll shape technology direction, drive modern engineering practices, and deliver solutions that directly impact how we go to market.
Responsibilities
Be a core contributor in modernizing legacy systems and introducing next-gen technologies that enable business agility and market responsiveness
Create & deliver new solutions by helping business partners to see the art-of-the-possible and influencing the change needed to execute and deliver successfully
Lead a cross-functional team of Software Engineers, System Analysts and QA teams focused on delivering incremental and tangible business outcomes
Lead the technical direction, ensuring alignment with overall organizational goals
Execute the talent strategy required to achieve business needs and organizational goals by managing and cultivating a high functioning team
Strategically anticipate future consequences and trends, and incorporate them into roadmaps and delivery, fast paced translation of business needs into practical applications and solutions
Ensure the delivery of high-quality technical solutions that meet business requirements
Partners with EAs and Solution Architects to ensure architectural standards, guidelines, and best practices are implemented in the solution delivery
Work closely with Product Owners, RTEs and other stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions
Oversee code quality, conduct code reviews, and ensure robust testing practices are in place
Provide inputs to the tech roadmap for the Quoting domain
Be responsible for Budgets and Financial management of teams and strategic vendor relationships
Qualifications
10+ years' of hands-on experience in software engineering,
5+ years' in engineering leadership roles, preferably within healthcare payer domain leading enterprise-scale software development teams responsible for delivering complex applications
Strong business acumen to align technology solutions with business value
Strong grasp of cloud-native architectures, APIs, microservices, and modern DevOps practices (CI/CD, IaC, monitoring)
Demonstrated ability to lead build vs. buy decisions and vendor integrations in legacy and modern environments
Proven track record of hiring, mentoring, and scaling engineering teams across geographies
Proven track record of building strong identity teams that apply their diverse skills and perspectives to achieve common goals
Ability to translate complex technical decisions into clear business value
If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 166,700 - 277,900 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.
This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus and long term incentive plan.
