The Data Engineer Senior Analyst is responsible for the delivery and support of working software by collaborating with agile scrum teams, delivering software using SDLC and Agile best practices, industry standards, and Cigna guidelines to meet the needs of our businesses and to ensure quality, effectiveness, and scalability for growth. The Data Engineer Senior Analyst has to have a “DevOps Mindset”, characterized with an automation-first and continuous improvement orientation. The Data Engineer Senior Analyst will leverage technologies like, but not limited to Oracle PL/SQL, MongoDB, Postgres, DynamoDB, Qlik, Informatica, Elastic Search, python and AWS.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Work closely with other members as part of a distributed agile (SAFe) team of developers, analysts, QA, and more.
• Work with technical leadership to understand requirements.
• Design to the requirements and document the designs.
• Do data modeling as needed for the requirements.
• Demonstrate skill in using coding standards, reusable code and being an active participant in code reviews and writing Unit Test cases.
• Implement dev-ops pipelines to deploy code artifacts on to the designated platform/servers.
• Troubleshoot issues, providing effective solutions and job monitoring as required.
• Participate in sprint planning sessions, refinement/story-grooming sessions, daily scrums, demos and retrospectives.
• Quality-focused with eye for detail.

Required Experience & Education

• 3 - 5 years of relevant production support and project experience.
• Strong experience in writing complex and effective SQL in Oracle.
• Advanced PL/SQL which includes partitions, performance tuning, local & global indexing, Dynamic SQL, exception handling and bulk data handling.
• Experienced in writing complex SQL in Postgres, MongoDB and DynamoDB.
• Strong understanding of database concepts and experience with query optimization and performance tuning.
• Document-centric data architecture (XML DB/NoSQL/JSON).
• Experience in Agile and working knowledge on DevOps tools (Git, Jenkins, Artifactory).
• Experience with Relational Database Development – Oracle, Teradata, SQL Server, PostgreSQL or equivalent required.
• Basic Cloud Experience (AWS).
• ETL concepts.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex issues and implement effective solutions.
• Experience in Jira and Confluence.

Desired Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Development experience in Teradata SQL, Hive SQL, Spark SQL, Py-Spark and Shell scripting.
• Hands-on experience with ETL tools such as Informatica.
• Proficiency in scripting languages like Python.
• Health care domain knowledge is a plus.
