We are hiring for an Associate Vice President (AVP), a developing professional role within the Equities In-Business Risk (IBR) team. This position reports directly to the Global Head of IBR for Equity Derivatives (EqD), Futures & OTC Clearing (FDC), Cash, and Fixed Income Prime Brokerage (FIPB). The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the end-to-end product and counterparty credit risk platform and risk management framework across a diverse mix of businesses.

This role requires strong analytical thinking and knowledge of data analysis tools and methodologies, with a strong focus on attention to detail when making judgments and recommendations based on information analysis. You will deal with variable issues that may have broader business impact, applying professional judgment when interpreting data and results. Strong communication skills are essential for exchanging potentially complex or sensitive information with various stakeholders. The quality and timeliness of the service provided will directly contribute to the effectiveness of the IBR team and closely related teams, having a moderate but direct impact through close contact with the businesses' core activities.

Function: The In-Business Risk (IBR) team sits within Equities and operates as the first line of defense, collaborating with various functions across Citi, including Sales, Trading, Structuring, Credit Risk, and Quant teams, to identify and manage risks inherent in these businesses.

Product scope: Equity Derivatives encompasses vanilla and exotic OTC equity derivatives, Citi Investment Strategies (CIS), and Hybrids. Futures & OTC Clearing (FDC) covers risk associated with listed derivatives and cleared OTC products across asset classes like Rates/Inflation, Credit, Equities, FX, and Crypto. Cash refers to cash equity execution. Fixed Income Prime Brokerage (FIPB) is a clearing business within Prime Services for fixed income securities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Tool Development & Maintenance: Use programming languages (e.g., Python) to build and maintain core functionality for the team, including new tools and methods for measuring portfolio and trade-specific risk across EqD, FDC, Cash, and FIPB.
  • Portfolio Monitoring: Monitor client and proprietary portfolios, including greeks, factor sensitivities, and stress output for all supported product lines. Communicate key findings to management and other stakeholders as necessary.
  • Risk Analysis & Reporting: Perform routine daily and weekly analysis as well as ad-hoc risk analysis. Ensure robust risk monitoring of counterparty credit risk, including stress models/tools, and risk reporting.
  • Data Analysis: Use Bloomberg (including API) to perform analysis on various financial products and market data.
  • Documentation & Presentations: Create presentations and documents as needed on various topics, including stress methodologies, risk governance, and summarizing key risk issues.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the IBR team to assist in the real-time assessment of trade or counterparty risks across the covered product areas.
  • Independent Operation: Ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision within the broader team environment, taking ownership of assigned tasks and projects.

Qualifications:

  • 1-4 years of experience in capital markets, risk management, programming, or related disciplines.
  • Requires strong programming skills in Python, VBA, or other object-oriented languages.
  • Good understanding of risk or Capital Markets concepts, preferably in derivatives (equity or fixed income), clearing, or prime brokerage.
  • Familiarity with derivatives, including payoffs and Greeks.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with Tableau or other Business Intelligence Tools is a plus.
  • Outstanding analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail and experience in sourcing, using, and manipulating data into an end product.
  • Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience in Finance, Economics, Quantitative Fields (e.g., Financial Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science), or a related discipline.
